    POSITION SUMMARY:

    We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Estimator to join our team at CANA Communications, A Division of Eagle Fire Inc., a leading fire alarm contracting company. As an Estimator, you will be responsible for evaluating the costs of projects related to the installation, maintenance, and upgrade of fire alarm systems. The ideal candidate will have experience in the fire alarm industry, strong knowledge of local codes, and the ability to provide accurate and competitive estimates.

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Review and analyze project blueprints, specifications, and other documents to understand the scope of work.
    • Conduct on-site assessments to evaluate job requirements, determine material needs, and assess labor requirements.
    • Prepare accurate and competitive cost estimates for fire alarm system installations, upgrades, and repairs.
    • Coordinate with clients, architects, engineers, and subcontractors to gather necessary information and clarify project specifications.
    • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal fire safety codes and regulations.
    • Calculate material costs, labor costs, and overhead costs to generate a comprehensive estimate.
    • Assist in developing project timelines, budgets, and schedules.
    • Track and analyze project costs and assist in budget management throughout the project lifecycle.
    • Provide support to the project management team and sales team as needed.
    • Keep up to date with industry trends, fire alarm technologies, and code changes.
    • Maintain records of estimates and project documentation for future reference.

    • Must possess the ability to read and interpret construction documents and shop drawings.

    • Must possess excellent organizational skills.
    • Must maintain a valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
    • Must handle multiple projects and identify priorities.
    • Must interact well with all levels of individuals, internally and externally.

    • Must possess the ability to handle change, resolve conflict and solve problems as they arise with minimal direction.
    • Must possess excellent computer skills to include Microsoft Office Professional programs and applicable database programs

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

     

    • High School diploma or equivalent; Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management, Engineering or related field is a plus.
    • Proven experience as an estimator in the fire alarm, electrical, or construction industry.
    • In-depth knowledge of fire alarm system components, installation processes, and maintenance protocols.
    • Strong understanding of local, state, and national fire codes and regulations.
    • Proficient in using estimation software and tools (e.g., Accubid, Bluebeam, etc.).
    • Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
    • Strong communication and negotiation skills.
    • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

    • Must be able to lift and move objects weighing up to 50 pounds, work from heights above 10 feet, and work in confined areas.
    • Must be able to lift, crouch, reach, handle, push and pull.
    • Must be able to drive a vehicle.
    • Must be able to travel out of town.
    • Must be able to sit for long periods of time.
    • Must be able to use a telephone, computer and other office equipment.
    • Must be able to work in extremely cold and extremely hot temperatures.
    • Must be able to work while exposed to loud sounds and noise levels. .
