In 2018, Monumental Sports & Entertainment will bring the Mystics and the G League team to a new state-of-the-art Entertainment and Sports Arena being built by Washington, D.C. and Events DC at the St. Elizabeths campus in Ward 8. The Wizards will also practice there. Monumental Sports & Entertainment co-owns and operates Monumental Sports Network with the NBC Sports Group. Position Overview: The Arena Administration (Guest Relations, Marketing, Communications, Security, Box Office) Intern will support the daily operations and assist in the efforts of promoting events at both Capital One Arena and EagleBank Arena. This is a paid internship. Responsibilities: Assist in composing and distributing monthly calendars and maintaining appearance and stock in kiosks at Capital One Arena. Organize event folders in previously established fashion and assist in transferring event information into current system. Update charts and competing events calendar. Responsible for providing event and administrative assistance at select events. Assist Guest Relations coordinator with the set up and monitoring of general admission area for concerts without floor seating. Prepare event signage. Assist with creating Guest Relations department mailings & correspondence. Assist with Guest Relations Lost and Found program. Assist with equipment set up. Assist in providing guests with general building information. Shadow managers during events/assist on event night press operations as needed. Assist the Guest Relations Coordinator with pre-event activities and preparing event information. Contribute to printed/digital content related to event publicity and Monumental Sports & Entertainment (i.e. press releases, event recaps, newsletters and arena website). Assist in analyzing and tracking advertising efforts. Update monthly growth charts for social media accounts. Update event listings online with local media outlets. Coordinate/monitor news clippings via media tracking report. Assist in creating social media promotions for events including graphic design elements. Edit and update arena websites. Research, coordinate and create media events as needed. Responsible for maintaining department filing system and special projects. Must be able to multitask in a fast paced environment. Other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications : Must be an undergraduate or graduate student. Interest in Venue Management, facilities and events. Experience in Public Relations, Marketing, Communications, Arena Management/Logistics or related field required. Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and social media. Excellent written, verbal, interpersonal and editing skills required. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Ability to work on deadlines required. Effective and efficient organizational skills and ability to multi-task. Graphic design experience a plus. Reliable transportation and housing.
