• The Lead Tech Mechanical Engineer provides technical support with the design and troubleshooting of automated manufacturing equipment and packaging equipment to achieve Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost metrics.

• Applies technical knowledge with regards to mechanical design, PLCs, Vision Systems, Robots, Servos, etc. to resolve problems in the manufacturing process.

• Utilize practical technical knowledge to resolve machine and process issues with regards to mechanical, electrical, or programming of high-speed automated equipment.

• Carry out corrective and preventive maintenance tasks through hands-on involvement.

• Develop initiatives to improve efficiency on all machines under the area of responsibility.

Lead Tech Mechanical Engineer

Work Schedule: 4th shift

Responsibilities:

• Hands-on development improvements to high-speed automated equipment for the manufacturing of medical devices.

• Performs troubleshooting, and maintenance of high-speed automated equipment.

• Use technical knowledge and experience in programming and troubleshooting to resolve issues and to improve the performance of the automated machines. Based in the following technologies:

  • Robots: FANUC, ABB, Epson and Stäubli (strong experience with pick and place applications)

  • Strong knowledge in Rockwell Automation Software: Studio 5000 (RSLogix 5000), Factory Talk Machine Edition/Site Edition, etc.

  • Strong knowledge in Servo Motion Controls System as Kinetix Servo drives, Sinamics or similar

  • Advanced process control as Fuzzy Logix, Profibuss, ProfiNet networks, PID Function and Functional Charts Language, Ethernet-IP / TCP-IP Networks.

  • Strong knowledge in development and programming of Vision Systems such as Cognex (Insight 5000, 2000, micro, Keyence CVX, IV, Banner).

  • Extensive experience in ultrasonic welding,

  • InkJet printers (Domino, Lynx, Markem Image, Keyence).

  • Experience in thermos transfer printers, flexographic printers and digital printers.

  • Product and parts identification including RFID and Barcoding (software, printers, and readers).

  • Strong knowledge in pneumatics and electropneumatic, mechanical knowledge, electronics.

• Follow all safety procedures and identify/communicate the necessary adjustments to address potential safety concerns, including the proper use of PPE (Personal Protection Equipment).

• Work with BD production, engineering, quality, and maintenance teams to ensure that goals are met.

• Maintain primary communication of performance goals and requirements identified by management.

• Support CAPA activities as required (Corrective and Preventive Actions) to address systemic issues in the manufacturing and quality systems.

Minimum Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree is required (degree in Mechatronics, Mechanical, Electronic Engineering or any related field is desired).

• At least 3-5 years of manufacturing experience (preferably in a highly automated environment).
