    Do you want to get substantive experience at a nonprofit? Are you looking for an internship where you will have real responsibilities that help you learn how an organization functions?

    The African Dream Initiative is currently searching for a Communications & Development Intern to help out a few hours a week in New York. Because we are a small organization, the intern will get to work directly with our Executive Director, and will have the opportunity to get real, in-depth, hands-on experience in what it means to work for and run a nonprofit.

    Description & Sample Responsibilities:

    • Help manage ADI's Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter accounts

    • Draft monthly newsletters and other communications

    • Help create annual report

    • Conduct research into grant-giving organizations

    • Help plan & implement crowdfunding campaign

    • Help plan and execute fall fundraising event

  • Qualifications

    You must be currently enrolled in college or graduate school in a degree program or completing a residence requirement.

    You are:

    • Excited about youth, education, and development;

    • A self-starter who enjoys challenging yourself to try new things;

    • An excellent writer;

    • Proficient in several types of social media; and

    • Knowledgeable about crowdfunding campaigns.

    We'd prefer a student who will receive credit for this internship, but if you can't get credit and are really passionate about our mission, please reach out!
