    What You’ll Do…

    These positions are located at our R&D Facilities in Houston, Texas.  Our intern program philosophy is to “recruit once, hire twice” with the hope to hire interns back into full-time or return internship roles.  

    Interns will be assigned a research project that directly contributes to an existing development effort with real commercial impact. The intern will work with a mentor and team of scientists to design, conduct, and analyze laboratory testing. Results will be discussed during weekly team meetings, where interns are encouraged to share their conclusions and ideas. At the end of the assignment, interns will be given the opportunity to present their work and findings to senior Halliburton leadership.

    The internship program assignments are 10-14 weeks in duration and are full-time on-site internships.  The summer 2025 internship is expected to begin on May 19, 2025.

    Your Key Responsibilities:

    Projects you could potentially work on include:

    • Formulation and performance testing of synthetic or biopolymer-based fracturing fluid systems
    • Development of surfactant chemistries for improved oil recovery
    • Analysis of field operations data to optimize chemistry selection and usage
    • Design of test methods for improved evaluation of chemistry effectiveness
    • Development of new corrosion inhibition chemistries for acid stimulation blends
    • Formulation of new chemistry systems to remove or inhibit mineral scale formation

    What You’ll Bring to Our Team

    Required Qualifications:

    • Reliable transportation to and from work daily is required.
    • Unrestricted authorization to work in the United States both now and in the future; Halliburton will not sponsor applicants for work visas for this position.
    • Degree or seeking a degree in Chemistry/Chemical Engineering/Petroleum Engineering 
    • Knowledge of organic and inorganic chemistry, materials science, formulation science, rheology, surfactants, engineering, and/or polymer chemistry
    • Wet laboratory skills and ability to design experimental test plans and analyze data
    • Ability & desire to work with a multi-disciplinary (chemistry, engineering, data analysis) team
    • Safety-focus and willingness to comply with all HSE standards and processes
    • Proficient with Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, etc.)

    Desired Qualifications:

    • Prior intern, co-op, or research experience
    • Strong analytical, technical, and problem-solving skills
    • Well-developed written and verbal communication skills
    • Innovative, self-driven individuals with a strong work ethic and positive attitude
    • Familiarity with oilfield stimulation chemistries and operational treatment methods
    • Experience using statistical analysis software (e.g. JMP, Minitab, etc.)

    This position offers relocation based on candidate eligibility. To qualify, your university and/or permanent address must be more than 50 miles from your work location.

    Salary Range: $26 - $36/hour Please note that pay information shown below is a general guide only. Salaries are based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.
