    Job Overview

    This job announcement will be accepting candidate submissions until 16 October 2024.

    Serves as the Branch Clerical Assistant for the AFRL Information Directorate, Applied Analytics Branch (RIED), at Rome, NY. The Information Directorate (RI), seeks to hire a entry-level, DU-II Administrative Assistant in Rome, New York. The incumbent will serve as the administrative assistant for the Information Fusion Technology Branch (RIEA) and will provide support to all branch scientists and engineers.

    Position duties include but are not limited to:

    • Use database or spreadsheet software to create, enter, revise, sort or calculate, and retrieve data for reports and presentations.
    • Prepares Final Technical Report packages directed to Unit Records Manager for review by Division and STINFO.
    • Reviews, prepares documents, and tracks coordination for the annual Work Unit Division Reviews.
    • Assists Management Office with salary report correctness, time card corrections, along with various other duties to ensure proper obligations.
    • Prepares, consolidates, submits and maintains time and attendance records in accordance with procedures.
    • Assists Work Unit Managers with edits and data entry to ensure accurate Case File records management. * Reviews, processes and finalizes correspondence and documents for grammar, spelling, capitalization, punctuation, and format.
    • Establishes, maintains, purges, and disposes of various office records/files in accordance with regulations and procedures that assist with efficient office operation.
    • Assists Work Unit Managers with edits and data entry into applications/systems to ensure accurate Case File records management.
    • Maintains supervisor's calendar, coordinates meeting arrangements, and schedules meetings and conferences.
    • Develops methods and procedures for office automation tasks. Requisitions office supplies, printing support, related materials and services.
    • Screens incoming mail to identify what needs to be brought to the attention of the supervisor, referred to appropriate staff, rerouted to others or handled personally.

    Required Qualifications

    • United States Citizenship
    • Ability to obtain and maintain the required security clearance
    • Males must be registered for Selective Service, see www.sss.gov
    • Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade, GS-4, or equivalent in other pay systems. Specialized Experience is experience directly related to the position that was performed at a level equivalent to the grade directly below the position.

    Desired Qualifications

    • Office administrative work experience or relevant coursework background
    • Excellent interpersonal skills
    • Adept at business applications software and ability to learn new software
    • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office or equivalent business software
    • Good oral/written communication skills
