    The Electronics Devices Branch (AFRL/RYDD) seeks to hire an experienced and motivated senior-level S&E as the Deputy Branch Chief, DR-3, in Dayton, OH. This position is open to candidates currently at the DR-02 (or equivalent grade) level eligible for promotion and/or current DR-03 (or equivalent grade) level candidates for reassignment.

    Position duties include but are not limited to:

    • As Deputy Branch Chief supports the Branch Chief in all aspects of branch management duties and exercises full authority in the absence of the Branch Chief.
    • Assists Branch Chief to provide efficient management of the branch to include planning, organizing, execution, and evaluation of all development and research activities conducted by branch personnel.
    • Supports the branch mission of leading the AF in research, development, demonstration, and transition of RF devices.
    • Oversees in-house and contractual programs ranging from basic research and exploratory development to advanced component demonstration efforts.
    • Collaborates with a broad range of functional and technical area experts across the Laboratory including technology experts, contracting, financial, and other S&E authorities.
    • Manages infrastructure, logistics, safety, travel, and awards/recognitions within the branch.
    • Assists in branch level financial planning and execution, and approves financial transactions.
    • Acts as senior representative, technical and programmatic focal point to customers and partners on all assigned program related activities.

    Required Qualifications

    Only candidates qualified for the following series will be considered: 0801 General Engineering Series, 0806 Materials Engineering Series, 0855 Electronics Engineering Series, 1310 Physics Series, and 1320 Chemistry Series.

    • United States Citizenship
    • Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at DR-02/GS-13, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience include experience in the areas of Material Synthesis and Characterization, Semiconductor Device Fabrication and Characterization, Physics, Chemistry, and Electrical Engineering.
    • Must be able to obtain/maintain a Top Secret with access to SCI and SAP security clearance, as condition of employment.
    • This is a drug testing designated position. The incumbent will be subject to random testing.
    • Applicants must be able to meet the OPM Qualification Standards of the position being filled.

    • This is an APDP position requiring Level /Tier 2 (Practitioner) Non-Critical certification in Engineering and Technical Management (N). This position has been designated as an acquisition position and is covered by the Acquisition Professional Development Program (APDP). The employee must meet, or be capable of meeting, Defense Acquisition Work Improvement Act (DAWIA) requirements applicable to the duties of the position. *Applicants must list all completed APDP certification and status of acquisition corps membership on their resume.
    • The position is eligible for and will require routine mission travel, regular classified engagements, and in-person meetings that cannot always be scheduled around a regular/recurring telework schedule. Employee must live within the commuting area of Wright-Patterson AFB.
