    Innovation and ingenuity start here! The AFRL Digital Capabilities Directorate is looking for a passionate, dynamic leader to be the new Chief of the Architecture and Experimentation Division! If you have the knowledge, skills, and abilities to engage our customers in understanding and addressing their pain, reducing their toil and increasing the opportunities that emerging technology brings to their mission, apply now! The IZX Chief will also be required to develop and deliver data architecture, programs, platforms, tools, and systems to support AFRL; develop and execute concepts and pilots that bring AFRL information and decisional advantage; and be the accountable leader on key AFRL information priority projects.

    Position duties include, but are not limited to:

    • Lead the Architecture & Experimentation division of AFRL Digital Capabilities Directorate in achieving its mission to enable AFRL mission by establishing a continuous flow of strategic and innovative digital services centered upon mission-value priority
    • Develop and implement a comprehensive strategy for exploring, testing, and adopting emerging technologies, aligning with the organization's digital transformation goals
    • Oversee the design, development, and execution of pathfinders and pilots for leading IT and cyber technologies, including Artificial Intelligence, data connectivity, infrastructure, and cloud services
    • Foster a culture of innovation, encouraging experimentation, calculated risk-taking, and continuous learning
    • Collaborate with stakeholders across AFRL directorates including associated AFRL CIO Group Members and their teams to partner in solutions, ensuring a cohesive and integrated approach to digital transformation
    • Coordinate services and capabilities transition within the DCD, AFRL, AF, and DoD partners, ensuring seamless integration and adoption of new technologies
    • Supervise a team of technical professionals, providing guidance, mentorship, and performance management to ensure the team's success and growth
    • Manage personnel and resource allocation, ensuring effective use of resources and alignment with division priorities
    • Develop and maintain a deep understanding of the organization's IT architecture and infrastructure, identifying areas for improvement and opportunities for innovation
    • Build and maintain relationships with internal stakeholders, including business leaders, IT teams, and other divisions, as well as external partners and vendors
    • Communicate the division and director vision, strategy, and progress to stakeholders, including senior leadership, business units, and external partners
    • Engage our customers in understanding and addressing their pain, reducing their toil and increasing the opportunities that emerging technology brings to their mission
    • Develop and Deliver data architecture, programs, platforms, tools, and systems to support AFRL.
    • Develop and execute concepts and pilots that bring AFRL information and decisional advantage

    • This interdisciplinary position may have a positive education requirement. Applicants must provide transcript(s).
    • Must have at least one year of specialized experience at the DO/DR-03/GS-14 or equivalent grade level of position being advertised
    • Ability to obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance.

    • Strong leadership capability with proven track record of successful team development and working effectively with all organizational levels
    • Broad knowledge of current and emerging technologies, technology directions, and strategic application to business needs, including the ability to differentiate between a relevant trend and hype
    • Proven track record of innovation, both in internal problem solving and in fostering innovative uses of technology in the organization
    • Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to explain technology solutions in business terms, establish rapport and persuade others
    • Ability to effectively drive business, culture, and technology change in a dynamic and complex operating environment
    • Expert in IT strategic planning, IT governance formulation, and organizational change management
    • Strong customer and user experience focus
    • Ability to adapt to a wide range of activities without losing focus in order to handle the diverse nature of tasks within the DCD effectively
    • Experience in business/industry (beyond IT), managing cross-functional teams or projects, and influencing senior-level management and key stakeholders
    • Master's degree in business, engineering, IT or a related field, or equivalent work exp
