    Job Overview

    The Intelligence Systems Division of the Air Force Research Laboratory/Information Directorate (AFRL/RI) seeks to hire a highly skilled DR-03/GS-14 Engineer with DoD and/or Intelligence Community (IC) experience relating to Networking, VMware Storage Engineering experience. The Engineer provides architectural technology creation and management for current and future system architectures, designs, development, test, and execution. You will be leading teams supporting Enterprise designs and architecture to meet the needs of the Air Force, DoD, IC, Government Agencies and FVEYs partners.

    Position duties include but are not limited to:

    • Leading technical teams on multiple efforts and customers
    • Perform research, analysis of alternatives, and evaluation of enterprise modernization via VMware, Storage, network designs, architectures, technologies, and products for functionality, security and cost-effectiveness
    • Provide technology management for current and future system architecture, design, development, test, and execution; engineering support of mission sites integrating AFRL solutions into enterprise systems
    • Manage and increase the effectiveness of the portfolio of solutions, ensuring flexible and secure integration with mission site infrastructures and evolving IT capabilities
    • Support mission sites in the integration and configuration of solutions into their enterprise to meet mission needs
    • Solve problems across DoD and Industry to drive innovation in meeting Information/Data Sharing needs for the enterprise and tactical user
    • Understand and apply Agile design methodologies working with the prime system developer
    • Work with a team of Government, Military and Contractors across the full System Development Life Cycle on all aspects of the program including development, enhancement, test, deployment, and operational support.
    • Investigate and resolve programmatic and technical issues impacting system development and deployment enterprise solutions to meet and exceed mission partner needs
    • Interface with program contractors; customer stakeholders in the Air Force, Department of Defense (DoD), Intelligence Community (IC), and Coalition partners; vendors and Industry technical leaders to ensure effective collaboration to meet data and information sharing mission requirements
    • Stay current on modernization techniques, Agile, DevSecOps technology and relevant policy, research, testing and deployments. Participate in Government and Industry forums
    • Engage senior leaders in the Air Force, DoD, IC, government agencies and Industry to ensure effective and continuous communication on Enterprise solutions development efforts, milestone status, technology considerations, policy impacts and critical program decisions
    • Showcase AFRL/RI Modernization solutions efforts to interested mission partners
    • Transition leading edge applications, tools, and technology to DoD, IC and coalition partners to support critical information sharing requirements

    • United States Citizenship
    • Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.

    • This is a drug testing designated position. The incumbent will be subject to random testing.
    • A bachelor’s degree in a science or engineering discipline. To be acceptable, the curriculum must: (1) be in a school of engineering with at least one curriculum accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) as a professional engineering curriculum; or (2) include differential and integral calculus and courses (more advanced than first-year physics and chemistry) in five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics: (a) statics, dynamics; (b) strength of materials (stress-strain relationships); (c) fluid mechanics, hydraulics; (d) thermodynamics; (e) electrical fields and circuits; (f) nature and properties of materials (relating particle and aggregate structure to properties); and (g) any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics, or electronics.
    • Applicants must be able to meet the OPM Qualification Standards of the position being filled.
    • This position is an Acquisition Professional Development Program (APDP) position requiring Level III Non-Critical certification in Science and Technology Management (STM).
    • The selectee will have 24-months to meet APDP requirements or a waiver must be obtained.
    • Applicants for this position must list any acquisition certifications and status as an acquisition corps member in their resume.
