    The 711th Human Performance Wing seeks an experienced Product Area Lead to drive the development, validation, and transition of cutting-edge biotechnologies for military and commercial use. The role focuses on projects such as wearables, sensors, fitness/nutrition interventions, neurocognitive training, neuromodulation, and biophysiological recovery, aligning them with national defense and public health priorities.

    Key Responsibilities, include; but are not limited to:

    • Tech Development & Transition: Oversee biotechnology R&D from concept through to operational and commercial applications for government and industry clients.
    • Project Management: Manage the cost, schedule, and performance of contracts, ensuring milestones and deliverables are met.
    • Business Strategy & Partnerships: Identify market opportunities, develop business cases, and form strategic partnerships with commercial companies, venture capitalists, and government entities.
    • Public-Private Collaboration: Lead collaboration between government agencies, private industry, and academia for data sharing, licensing, and intellectual property agreements.
    • Government Acquisition: Navigate DoD acquisition processes and ensure compliance with government regulations.
    • Tech Readiness Advancement: Guide technologies through the Technology Readiness Levels (TRLs) to ensure they are market-ready.
    • Tech Transfer: Collaborate with technology transfer offices (TTOs) to manage patents, licensing, and legal aspects.
    • Works with the 711 HPW/RH Core Technology Competency (CTC) Leads, Product Line Leads (PLLs), program managers, technical leads and corporate planning processes to integrate technical development efforts into the broader organizational strategy.
    • Serves as a technical task lead for applied medical research and product development efforts.
    • Maintains currency with professional affiliations through scientific review, professional presentation, and interaction with other government and scientific agencies.
    • Receives general guidance in terms of policies, program objectives, and resources.
    • Effectively plans and controls assigned resources. Conducts in-house technical activities and/or provides technical direction for contract efforts with minimal supervision.
    • Designs, develops, and conducts research in en route care, especially pertaining to advances in medical science and technologies in the areas of patient movement, autonomous care, and ground medical capabilities.

    Required Qualifications

    • This position may be filled as a 5-year Flexible Length and Renewable Term Technical Appointment (new government hires, current government term employees, etc.) with the option to later convert to a permanent appointment.

    Desired Qualifications

    1. Educational Background:

    • Minimum: Bachelor’s in Engineering, Biology, Physiology, Psychology, Kinesiology, or related field
    • Preferred: Master’s or MBA

    2. Experience:

    • Minimum: 2 years in technology development and transition
    • Preferred: 3+ years of relevant experience
    • Expertise with human subjects research data
    • First-author publications in human performance or related fields are highly desirable.

    3. Skills and Competencies:

    • Strong leadership and mentorship abilities.
    • The ability to transition innovative science and technology solutions.
    • Strong written and oral communication skills.
    • Proven ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
