    Pre-School Teacher- Bridesburg Boys & Girls Club Boys & Girls Clubs of Philadelphia - Philadelphia, PA The Pre-School Teacher is responsible for planning, implementing, supervising, and evaluating all programs and activities provided in preschool program areas. He/she will ensure a safe, nurturing environment for children where self-concepts are enhanced, independence encouraged, and individuality respected. This position is at the Bridesburg Boys and Girls Club located at 2901 Bridge Street, Philadelphia, PA 19137 Essential Duties &* Responsibilities* * Plans and implements daily program activities. * Supervises all children in program area and assists director in maintaining all DPW staff to child ratios. * Properly reports all illnesses, injuries, and behavioral incidents. * Maintains childrens paperwork; including but not limited to, incident reports, medication logs, and portfolios. * All BGCP employees are Mandated Reporters, and must report any suspected Child Abuse or Neglect to their direct supervisor. * Establishes positive relationships with children, their parents and/or guardians; maintain communication with parents/guardians regarding child development and behavior, policies, procedures, and safety issues. * Continually strives, though teaching, discussion, and modeling, to develop positive values and ethical behavior in members. * Provides opportunities for parents to become involved in classroom and home reinforcement activities. * Uses appropriate and positive discipline in accordance with BGCP policies. * Assist in the transportation of kids including, but not limited to, driving, van aides, and walking escorts when necessary. * Responsible for helping to keep the Clubs clean. General Responsibilities * Performs other related duties as necessary or as assigned by the CEO(s), EPO(s), Unit Director(s), and/or Program Director(s). * Remains flexible and adaptable in work schedules and work assignments as defined by departmental and organizational needs. * Represents Boys & Girls Clubs of Philadelphia in a manner that conveys professionalism, confidentiality, courtesy, fairness, personal integrity, and respect for others. Qualifications Education and/or Experience * Bachelors Degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Special Education, Elementary Education, or the Human Services field OR * Bachelors Degree including 30 credit hours in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Special Education, Elementary Education, or the Human Services field; and one (1) year of experience with children OR * Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Special Education, Elementary Education, or the Human Services field; and two (2) years of experience with children OR * Associates Degree including 30 credit hours in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Special Education, Elementary Education, or the Human Services field; and two (2) years of experience with children Skills and Abilities * Strong communication skills; verbal, written, and presentation * Good computer skills, Microsoft Office preferred * Group leadership skills, including an understanding of group dynamics * Ability to be creative in instructional techniques, and to motivate young people * Demonstrated organizational, staff and project management abilities * Ability to motivate children, and manage behavior problems * Ability to deal with the general public in a professional, courteous manner * Ability to display a high level of enthusiasm and commitment to mission * Mandatory CPR and First Aid Certifications * Mandatory Fire Safety training * Mandated Child Abuse Reporter Training
