    Human Resources Intern Boys & Girls Clubs of Garden Grove - Garden Grove, CA Internship Class: Volunteer Commitment: Complete a minimum of 60 volunteer hours Schedule: At least four hours per week Location: Human Resources Department, Family Campus Supervisor: Hiring & Volunteer Manager Contact: Human Resources, 714-530-0430 Primary Function: Assists with the administrative duties throughout the hiring process, which includes phone interviews, reference checks and several other administrative tasks in an accurate and secure manner. Communication * Uses effective communication and maintains a professional tone in written and verbal communication consistently with staff members, volunteers, school personnel, parents and all community stakeholders * Communicates all pertinent program information with supervisor * Follows communication guidelines in regards to attendance procedures, including but not limited to: * Calls out 2 hours in advance and notifies supervisor of potential late arrival * Requests time off 10 days in advance * Sign in and out daily on timesheet with supervisor approval * Responds to all forms of communication in a timely manner Professionalism * Maintains BGCGG Core Values and mission; follows BGCGG and GGUSD standards of conduct * Builds rapport with team, community and applicants * Demonstrates flexibility * Maintains a cooperative and healthy work environment * Follows BGCGG Appearance Guidelines Dependability * Maintains records as instructed to ensure compliance with state and federal laws * Ensures a productive work environment Human Resources Development & Implementation * Contacts applicants to conduct and schedule interviews * Ensures application process of potential new hires is completed accurately and in a timely manner * Proctors and grades staff instructional exams * Assists with the background check process of new hires, including completing applicant reference checks * Assists in the coordination of placement for job opportunities * Prepares necessary materials for new hire orientations * Establishes a maintains a positive and inviting work relationship with applicants and coworkers * Assists with exit interviews of current employees * Completes a variety of administrative tasks in an accurate manner * Maintains confidentiality of all applicant and employee personal and professional information Qualifications * Currently enrolled in a Business Administration, Management, Communication, Public Administration or other related program * Administrative experience a plus * Bilingual capabilities a plus (Spanish, Vietnamese, Korean) Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities * Ability to uphold organizations mission and values * Ability to effectively use written, verbal, and non-verbal communication in small and large group settings * Ability to adapt and be flexible * Must be able to collaborate effectively and use resources effectively * Ability to manage priorities and tasks including effective time management * Ability to recognize potential issues and apply problem solving as needed * Must have strong interpersonal skills to build relationships and rapport * Ability to manage multiple priorities and tasks including effective time management and attention to detail * Ability to manage priorities and tasks including effective time management * Ability to apply critical thinking skills when problem solving * Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as managing files and records, following up on phone calls, conducting meetings, completing reports, and tracking data * Ability to recognize potential issues and apply problem solving * Must be able to collaborate effectively * Uses resources effectively Requirements * Position may require standing/sitting for extended periods of time, dexterity of hands and fingers to operate office equipment, reaching overhead, above the shoulders and horizontally, bending at the waist; seeing to review and analyze reports, documents or other reports; hearing and speaking to communicate and provide information to others; speaking to be heard before groups of people; position may require to lift, carry, pull or otherwise move objects between 10-20 pounds BGCGG is an equal employment opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, religion, gender, age, veteran status, political affiliation, sexual orientation, gender expression, gender identity, marital status, or disability (in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act) with respect to volunteer opportunities.
