The HQ AFRL Commander's Action Group (AFRL/CCX) seeks to fill a mid-level, DO-0301-02 Communications Action Officer at Wright-Patteson Air Force Base, Ohio.
Position Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Serves as the Communications Lead for the AFRL Commander and assists the Executive Director, Chief Technology Officer, Vice Commander, Mobilization Assistant, Command Chief and AFRL Directors as communications specialist.
- Serves as a project manager and action officer for the AFRL Commander's Action Group (CAG). Collaborates with AFRL Public Affairs (PA) on communications efforts.
- Assists in formulating AFRL's research, science and technology message to DoD, AF and AFMC senior leadership, industry and academic Leaders and world-class scientists.
- Prepares AFRL Leadership for speaking engagements and key events such as Air Force Association Conferences, Space Symposium, Corporate Forum and Senior Leader Offsite.
- Assists other CAG Action officers in planning high-quality engagements with government, industry, community, and academia stakeholders/partners to include prep sessions, protocol support, tours of facilities, and detailed logistics to ensure all vents run smoothly.
- Works in conjunction with AFRL/PA to support Public Affairs-led communications initiatives that involves the AFRL Front Office Group.
- Serves in a confidential capacity to directly support the Commander and Legislative Liaison action officer with communicating topics that can be sensitive in nature to public officials.
- Leads time-sensitive special projects, develops briefings/reports/speeches, and ensures AFRL Leadership is prepared for various speaking engagements.
- Represents AFRL on a wide range of efforts, including special reviews, strategic communications, messaging improvement efforts and integrated product teams, with host installation, AFMC and DAF.

Required Qualifications
- US Citizenship
- Must have at least one year of specialized experience at the next lowest grade level or equivalent grade level of the position being advertised
- Ability to obtain and maintain appropriate security clearance
- Males must be registered for Selective Service, see www.sss.gov
Desired Qualifications
- Degree in English, communications, writing, marketing, journalism, or related field
- Previous experience writing speeches
- Ability to think strategically and articulate AFRL's vision, mission, and goals.
- Effecitve interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
- Be a motivated, team-oriented, and flexible individual with a proven recordd of performance and success.
- Have accountability and attention to detail with follow-through.

- Prior AFRL experience
