  • Responsibilities

    The Community Volunteer Ambassador (CVA) program combines the strength of a national leader in conservation service with the National Park Service (NPS) in order to train a diverse group of emerging leaders to assist park units in building lasting connections to local communities. Over fifty young professionals will serve as CVA members for 50 week terms at NPS sites across the country.

    Length: position is 50 weeks, 40 hours/week

    Start Date: Monday, February 7th 2022

    Living Allowance: Baseline allowance of $500/week*

    AmeriCorps Award: $6,345 (pretax)

    Members will attend a week-long, nationwide, National Early Service Training.

    Members will receive the Public Land Corps Hiring Authority upon completion.

    Required Skills

    • Excellent communication skills
    • Flexibility and the ability to manage multiple priorities
    • Ability to coordinate and work with a variety of park staff and volunteers
    • Must enjoy working with a wide variety of people, such as park staff, volunteers, partners, visitors, and
    • community members
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; computer literate
    • Education: High School diploma/GED required
    • Between the ages of 18-30 years old (35 years old if you are a veteran)
    • Be a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident
    • Submit proof of a Driver’s License and undergo a Federal Background Check, upon selection
    • It is very likely that all participants will be required to be fully vaccinated to serve in the 2022 CVA Program. At a minimum participants will be required to get tested weekly if they are not vaccinated. Dates for implementing these requirements are not yet determined, but we expect that compliance will be necessary by the end of 2021

  • Qualifications
    • Must be able to read, speak and comprehend English at a level necessary to follow oral and written instructions.
    • Knowledgeable of hospital dietetic principles and procedures. Diet manuals/information, computer programs and safety precautions.
    • Ability to develop and implement educational programs in group settings.
    • Bilingual (English Spanish) preferred. Capable of education/communicating with patients in both languages preferred.
