    The Engine Systems Branch within the AFRL Aerospace Systems Directorate seeks to fill a Computer Engineer position, DR-0854-02, at Wright Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, Ohio.

    Position duties include, but are not limited to:

    • Directs the planning, initiating and directing projects to model, demonstrate, and assess advanced turbine engine propulsion concepts to ensure low risk application to future systems.
    • Performs professional engineering and scientific work involving the design, construction, and operation of computer infrastructure and networks, including hardware and software and their integration.
    • Performs various duties concerned with the application of, or research into, methods and techniques related to computer-based systems/software as applicable to advanced turbine engine systems.
    • Conducts systems engineering design, technical, and safety reviews using digital tools for advanced turbine engine propulsion technology.
    • Collaborates and conducts work efforts that may span multiple organizations: across branches, across divisions, across directorates, across centers, across MAJCOMS, across DoD, across agencies.
    • Promotes a culture where intellectual property (IP) is developed, documented, protected and encouraged. Inherent in the technical publication review process as a thorough screening for potential IP. Scientific/engineering knowledge will be utilized to effectively assist in IP transfer, transition or commercialization.

    Required Qualifications

    • United States Citizenship
    • Bachelors or Master’s degree in engineering
    • Ability to obtain and maintain the required security clearance
    • This position is an Acquisition Professional Development Program (APDP) position requiring Level II non-critical certification. The selectee will have 24months to meet APDP requirements or a waiver must be obtained.

    • Proficient modeler. Experience of using Model-Based Systems Engineering software (Magicdraw, Cameo)
    • Independent and proactive. Willingness to tackle issues across a wide spectrum beyond initial tasking.
    • Product focused. Self-driving toward overarching strategic goals.
    • Superior oral and written communication skills. The ability to be concise or digest complex subjects and convey leadership.
    • Strong analytical / problem-solving skills, including the ability to manage/direct complex projects.
    • The ability to work with a diverse group of stakeholders to solve problems and achieve shared objectives.
