- Deputy Chief, High Power Electromagnetics Division functions as the primary backup to the HPEM Division Chief. Responsible for tactical execution of technology programs and ensuring internal division support is effective and efficient.
- Internal support activities include contracting, financial support, logistics, safety, security, human resources, and records management to include case file management.
- Recommends program policies, strategic and financial planning, and long-range technical objectives to the Division Chief.
- Recommends resource allocation, milestones, and schedule dates, and directs and guides program teams in corrective action as required.
- Directs work through mid-level and first-level subordinate supervisors.
- Exercises authority and responsibility for recommending and/or approving personnel management actions.
- For employees within the Laboratory Demonstration Project, this includes participating in assessing contribution, facilitating pay pool meetings, as well as recommending Statements of Duties and Experiences.
- Assists the Division Chief in maintaining discipline, interviewing candidates, and recommending appointments, promotions and reassignments.
- Proactively promotes career development and training for employees; initiates and/or approves personnel actions, e.g.; awards.
- Observes and complies with health, safety, and security directives, and ensures division members are enabled to do the same.
- Applies EEO principles and requirements to all personnel management actions and recommendations, and ensures all personnel are treated in a manner free of discrimination.
- No relocation costs will be considered by the organization. Accredited degree in physics or electrical engineering required.

Required Qualifications
- Must be a US Citizen
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a TS Clearance.
- Bachelor's in physics or electrical engineering are required.
- This is an APDP position requiring Level/Tier 2 (Practitioner) Non-Critical certification in Engineering & Technical Management (N).
- This position has been designated as an acquisition position and is covered by the Acquisition Professional Development Program (APDP).
- The employee must meet, or be capable of meeting, Defense Acquisition Work Improvement Act (DAWIA) requirements applicable to the duties of the position.
