    AFWERX, the billion-dollar innovation arm of the U.S. Air Force, seeks to hire a data-driven Due Diligence Operations Manager/Acquisition Program Management Specialist to safeguard American dual-use technology and ensure U.S. innovation benefits the nation, not its adversaries. You will be working with a team of civilian and contractor analysts conducting critical due diligence reviews mandated by the SBIR and STTR Expansion Act of 2022, protecting against technology transfer, intellectual property theft, and undue foreign influence.

    This pivotal role oversees day-to-day operations, ensuring rigorous analysis, implementing automation, and fostering collaboration with DoD and interagency stakeholders. You'll guarantee the due diligence process runs smoothly, analysis meets the highest standards, and the program evolves for maximum efficiency and effectiveness.

    Success demands a multi-faceted skill set: program management, open-source analysis, financial acumen, and technical proficiency (SQL or similar). A strong grasp of domestic and foreign financial markets, private investments, and corporate governance is highly desired. You'll not only manage the process but also roll up your sleeves and tackle individual projects and tasks.

    No prior military or government experience is required; private sector candidates are encouraged to apply.

    Program Oversight:

    • Oversee day-to-day operations of the due diligence program, ensuring adherence to established procedures, timelines, and policy.
    • Monitor and evaluate program performance, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions.

    Analysis and Quality Assurance:

    • Proficiency in Open Source Intelligence (OSINT) methodologies and tools, or utilization of publicly and commercially available information for advanced research.
    • Ensure the quality and accuracy of due diligence analysis, including open-source research, financial analysis, and risk assessment.
    • Review and approve final due diligence reports and recommendations.
    • Stay abreast of emerging trends and best practices in due diligence and risk management.

    Process Improvement and Automation:

    • Implement robotic process automation (RPA) and other technologies to streamline due diligence workflows and increase efficiency.
    • Identify opportunities to leverage data analytics and other tools to enhance the effectiveness of the program.
    • Continuously evaluate and improve program processes and procedures.

    Stakeholder Management:

    • Maintain strong working relationships with key stakeholders within the DoD and interagency.
    • Coordinate and collaborate on due diligence activities and information sharing.
    • Represent AFWERX in meetings and discussions related to the due diligence program.

    Required Qualifications

    • US Citizenship.
    • Individual must meet all licensure, acquisition certification, security, ect., requirements at the time of appointment or be on an approved waiver prior to being placed on the position.
    • Must have at least one year of specialized experience at the DO-01 level or equivalent grade, (GS-11). Private sector experience will be considered and evaluated.
    • Must be able to obtain or maintain a Special Sensitive security clearance. Applicants are not required to possess active security clearance at the time of application.
    • ⁠Must be able to meet Acquisition Professional Development Program (APDP) requirements. No previous APDP certifications are required at the time of application to apply, and an appropriate grace period will be provided to obtain them once employment begins.
    • This is a drug testing designated position. Incumbents will be subject to random drug testing.

    Desired Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., business, finance, economics, international relations, data science)
    • Experience in the defense or aerospace industry.
    • Knowledge of domestic and foreign financial markets and private investment practices.
    • Familiarity with U.S. export control regulations and technology transfer issues.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
