    Job Overview

This position will be accepting candidate submissions until 15 November 2024. NOTE: Must use MM/DD/YYYY date format for experience on resume.

We are seeking an innovative and highly motivated Research Electronics Engineer specializing in Integrated Photonics to join our team. The ideal candidate will lead the design, simulation, and implementation of integrated photonic devices and systems for next-generation quantum technologies.

    • Design and develop integrated photonic devices for quantum applications (eg. waveguides, modulators, and detectors)
    • Interact with foundry partners to develop novel photonic materials and processes
    • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop heterogeneous quantum photonic systems.
    • Perform simulations using tools to optimize device and circuit performance (e.g. Ansys Lumerical MODE, FDTD, DEVICE, and INTERCONNECT).
    • Design integrated photonic chips for fabrication using layout software (e.g. GDSFactory, GDSpy, Nazca, KLayout).
    • Experimentally characterize integrated photonic devices using die- and wafer-level test and measurement equipment.
    • Lead experiments in quantum optics and photonics, analyzing experimental results and identifying opportunities for innovation.

    Telework

Yes, this position is eligible for telework opportunities; as determined by agency policy

    Remote Work (CONUS)

No, this position is not approved for remote work.

    Required Qualifications

    • United States Citizenship
    • Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
    • Males must be registered for Selective Service, see www.sss.gov.
    • This is a drug testing designated position. The incumbent will be subject to random testing.
    • A bachelor’s degree in a science or engineering discipline. To be acceptable, the curriculum must: (1) be in a school of engineering with at least one curriculum accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) as a professional engineering curriculum; or (2) include differential and integral calculus and courses (more advanced than first-year physics and chemistry) in five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics: (a) statics, dynamics; (b) strength of materials (stress-strain relationships); (c) fluid mechanics, hydraulics; (d) thermodynamics; (e) electrical fields and circuits; (f) nature and properties of materials (relating particle and aggregate structure to properties); and (g) any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics, or electronics.

Applicants must be able to meet the OPM Qualification Standards of the position being filled:
