ExxonMobil Job Summary ExxonMobil Upstream Research Company located in
Spring, Texas, has an immediate opening for an intern position in the
area of applied geomechanics for pursuing exploration opportunities,
developing production from new fields, and maximizing economic recovery
from existing fields. The incumbent will be responsible for both the
application of existing technologies and the creation and stewardship of
new research to find and recover hydrocarbons. Primary Job Functions *
Solve complex geomechanics problems associated with a diverse range of
geologic settings utilizing a combination of theoretical, laboratory and
numerical modeling techniques * Create, develop, and deploy innovative
research for exploration, development, and production * Conduct
geomechanical evaluations with special emphasis on the integration of
diverse datasets and fundamental measurements of mechanical rock
properties * Perform state-of-the-art research in URCs Geomechanics
Laboratories * Provide direct technical support to the upstream business
units * Communicate and present complex geomechanics concepts and ideas
- Manage externally-leveraged research programs * Potential research
areas include: * Maximizing recovery from conventional & unconventional
reservoirs * Compaction & creep / fatigue & failure * Injection
mechanics / coupled chemo-mechanical effects * Stress / pore pressure
prediction Job Requirements * The applicant should have a PhD in either
Geoscience (structural geology, geophysics, or a related discipline) or
Engineering (civil engineering, petroleum engineering, or a related
discipline) * Demonstrated background in laboratory and/or field
measurement of mechanical rock properties * High level understanding in
one or more of the following: * Theories of elasticity and plasticity of
porous materials * Fluid flow in porous and/or fractured media * In situ
stress analysis * Mathematical and computational modeling of rock
behavior * Ability to work effectively with a wide range of technical
individuals from both the Geoscience and Engineering communities *
Demonstrated leadership, adaptability, teamwork, excellent communication
skills, and a commitment to high safety and ethical standards. In
addition, candidates should be able to work effectively within and
across diverse team environments. Preferred Knowledge/Skills/Abilities *
Additional experience in rock physics and/or petrophysical analyses and
associated software platforms an advantage * Knowledge of digital rock
