    Job Overview

    Air Force Research Laboratory Directed Energy Directorate (AFRL/RDSS) is accepting applications for the position of Government Information Technology Specialist until 15 November 2024.

    Position duties include, but are not limited to:

    • Performs Systems Administration and required testing, troubleshooting, and correction to system and applications software discrepancies on both unclassified and classified networks.
    • Performs operational support activities, which include the full spectrum of installation, configuration, and integration of hardware and software from end-user to wide area network gateway.
    • Develops and helps modify system, application, and process techniques, tactics, and procedures to meet mission objectives.
    • Analyzes customer requirements, then designs and implements hardware and/or software solutions to meet requirements and comply with applicable standards.
    • Plans, designs, develops, and documents computer networks to satisfy user requirements and achieve the required performance and throughput.
    • Develops cost, resource, and schedule estimates for hardware or software solutions.
    • Ensures performance data collection and analysis tracking procedures support quality improvement objectives.
    • Plans for the development and implementation of improved information management systems capabilities.
    • Installs compilers, assemblers, and utilities and ensure these systems and databases are continually up-to-date with the most current and applicable software versions, patches, and information available to support operations.
    • Investigates IT solutions for complex, unusual, and often one-of-a-kind projects requiring integration of special instrumentation as well as customized software and hardware.
    • Programs and provides for user training on standard systems, networks, and applications software.
    • Ensures inventory of accountable assets is accomplished.
    • Maintains awareness of current and impending DoD, AF, AFMC, and AFRL policies and standards, which affect the configuration and operation of these systems.
