    The AFRL Integrated Capabilities Directorate (AFRL/RS) seeks to hire a motivated and experienced mid-level Scientist or Engineer to serve as a Project Engineer on multidisciplinary, transformational programs spanning aerospace, communications, weapons, and other operationally relevant systems. This position will be filled at the DR-02 (GS-12/13 equivalent) level and is located at Wright Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, Ohio.

    Position duties include, but are not limited to:

    • Utilizes multidisciplinary professional science and engineering knowledge to execute applied research (6.2) and advanced demonstration (6.3) programs to support transformational opportunities for United States Air Force (USAF) and United States Space Force (USSF) technology development.
    • Applies expert knowledge and advanced scientific and/or engineering theories, principles, concepts, standards, and methods to ensure assigned projects/processes remain consistent with program objectives, costs, schedules, performance criteria, and existing policies.
    • Facilitates interactions with industrial, international, operational and acquisition communities as well as other US Government agencies on matters pertaining to new technologies and their application to solve operational requirements.
    • Manages resources and project execution to ensure timely and efficient funding expenditure in accordance with Office of Secretary of Defense (OSD) goals.
    • Provides technical and programmatic guidance to program execution team members across AFRL and promotes team building internal and external to the assigned programs.
    • Communicates the portfolio purpose, focus, and achievements to Department of the Air Force (DAF), Department of Defense (DoD), and industry audiences.

    Required Qualifications

    • Must be a US Citizen
    • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret/SCI clearance
    • Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience related to the position duties at the DR-01 (GS 7-11 equivalent) for consideration
    • This is an interdisciplinary position. Applicants must be able to meet the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) qualification Standards for Professional and Scientific positions and the Individual Occupational Requirement (IOR).Qualification Standarad can be found at: General Schedule Qualification Standards .     • This interdisciplinary position has a positive education requirement. Applicants MUST provide transcripts.
    • This position is an Acquisition Professional Development Program (APDP) position requiring level/Tier 2 (Practitioner) Non-critical certification in N-Engineering and Technical Management. Selectee will have 60 months to meet APDP requirements or a waiver must be obtained

    Desired Qualifications

    • An advanced degree in a Science or Engineering (S&E) discipline is highly desired
    • Current Top Secret/SCI clearance
    • Experience working in cross-Technology Directorate (TD) teams or programs
    • Effective interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
