The Air Force Research Laboratory Munitions Directorate (AFRL/RW) seeks to hire two DR-0801-03 (GS-14 equiv) Maritime Weapon Lead Engineers in the Air Dominance Branch and Global Strike Branch in the Technology Integration Division (RWI) at Eglin AFB, Valparaiso, FL. The ideal candidates will have experience leading and managing diverse, multi-functional teams in performing multidisciplinary professional engineering work, managing systems engineering processes, applying sound business practices and financial discipline, executing Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) processes and tools, and developing and integrating weapon technologies and/or systems. Position duties include, but are not limited to:
- Serves as a Lead Engineer for a maritime weapon program within the Air Dominance or Global Strike Branch, supporting technical program execution and development of programmatic strategies across diverse development initiatives involving complex design and engineering problems.
- Recommends maturation and integration of counter-maritime technologies.
- Leads technical activities in a diverse and multi-functional team, overseeing technical progress, and ensuring desired program technical objectives are achieved and products delivered within schedule and budget.
- Coordinates on Statements of Objective (SOOs)/Statements of Work (SOW) and technical evaluations of contractor proposals. Monitors contractor program execution.
- Leads program execution team and industry partners to develop and document program performance metrics, risk management plans, and schedule/budget projections for planned activities and deliverables.
- Collaborates, interacts, coordinates, and/or directly consults with AF, Department of Defense (DoD), DOE, industry partners, academia, internationals, and technical societies to advocate for the development of advanced counter-maritime technologies.
- Monitors and assesses a wide range of diverse development initiatives involving complex design and engineering problems, unique mission requirements, and advanced technologies such as modeling and simulation, ordnance, and ground and flight testing.
- Leads team to accomplish multi-disciplinary engineering objectives, develop and evaluate alternatives, design and conduct experiments, analyze and interpret results, deliver and present results, and monitor in-house and external activities.
- Leverages diverse engineering practices, techniques and processes (e.g., Digital Engineering, MBSE, and Weapon Open System Architecture) to identify and resolve issues, as well as ensure resolutions are consistent with program objectives, existing policies, and procedures.
- Reports and documents program results through written reports, oral presentations, and professional interchange forums, as well as prepares/reviews contractual documents and efforts.
- Applies engineering experience for monitoring and assessing a wide range of diverse development efforts involving complex design and engineering problems, unique mission requirements, and advanced technologies such as guidance and control, aerodynamics, engineering analysis, ordnance, propulsion, advanced structures, and ground testing and flight testing.
- Prepares technical reports and evaluates technical proposals.
- Organizes, manages, and participates in workshops and technical exchange meetings, as required.

Required Qualifications
- United States Citizenship.
- Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade (DR-02, GS-13) or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience include experience in leading and managing diverse, multi-functional teams, managing systems engineering processes, application of sound business practices and financial discipline, executing MBSE processes and tools, and developing and integrating weapon technologies and/or systems.

- Must be able to obtain/maintain a Top Secret with access to SCI and SAP security clearance as a condition of employment.
- This is a drug testing designated position. The incumbent will be subject to random testing.
- This position is an Acquisition Professional Development Program (APDP) position requiring Level/Tier 2 (Practitioner) Non-Critical certification in Engineering & Technical Management (N); experience is 4 years; and the selectee will have 5 years to meet APDP requirements or a waiver must be obtained. *Applicants must list all completed APDP certifications in their resume.
- Significant experience in managing highly technical contracted projects.
- Excellent verbal, oral, and written communication skills for technical and senior leader audiences.
- PCS expenses, if authorized, will be paid in accordance with the Joint Travel Regulations and Air Force regulations. Centrally managed PCS costs paid by the Career Field Team.

- At least five years of experience with primary duties in weapons systems engineering.
- Experience working across multiple government organizations and with external stakeholders.

- Technical master's degree/PhD from an accredited university/institute is highly desired.
- Experience in adapting systems engineering processes, procedures, and practices to utilize agile and flexible digital transformation methods and techniques.
- Experience with Model-Based Systems Engineering tools and practices.
- Diversity of experience including successfully completed assignments in multiple organizations.
- Completion of Intermediate Developmental Education.
