AFWERX seeks to hire a mid-level, DR-03 or DO-03, Supervisory Acquisition Program Management Specialist, Supervisory Senior General Engineer or Operations Analyst, in Ventures (AFRL/RGV)
Position duties include, but are not limited to:
- Serves as the Open Topic Branch Chief responsible for overseeing the AFVentures Open Topic strategy, planning, and program execution.
- Responsible for establishing team objectives and priorities, advising employees on administrative and operational matters, resolving complaints, handling discipline or performance issues, and counseling employees on professional development.
- Assesses employee performance, selects staff and recommends promotions, awards and other forms of special recognition.
- Exercises supervisory personnel management responsibilities and will supervise both non-supervisory and supervisory employees. Directs, coordinates and oversees work through subordinate employees.
- Advises and provides counsel to employees regarding policies, procedures, and directives of senior management. Represents organization at internal and external engagements.
- Ensures mission requirements and accuracies are met. Assists AFVentures Division Chief with economic intelligence, including market, foreign investment, and adversarial threats.
- Generates studies and reports that support the overall commercial investment thesis of the Department of the Air Force. Increases enterprise collaboration by leveraging other functional (finance, contracting, legal, IT, security) and mission organization expertise and by defining opportunities to develop cross-mission organization technical programs responding to warfighter needs.

Required Qualifications
- US Citizenship.
- The ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
- Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade, DO-2/DR-2/GS-13 or equivalent in other pay systems. Experience gained in non-federal positions will also be reviewed for specialized experience. Specialized experience involves expertise in leading and managing diverse, cross-functional teams that collaborate with multiple stakeholders. It includes independently planning and developing key aspects of acquisition processes, demonstrating in-depth knowledge of assessing and evaluating program goals and objectives, and providing comprehensive organizational management capabilities.
- T his position has been designated as a Non-Critical Acquisition Position and is covered by the Acquisition Professional Development Program (APDP). The incumbent must meet or be capable of achieving acquisition certification within the allowed grace period. Applicants must list all completed APDP certifications on their resume.
Desired Qualifications
- Supervisory experience, especially in a remote telework / hybrid team environment
- Master's degree in a relevant program/subject
- Work experience with DoD acquisition Systems Program Office and/or DoD research laboratory
- Work experience with a Research Institute
- Work experience with Small Business or collaborating with Small Business
- Work experience with USAF/USSF Major Command (MAJCOM) or Headquarters
- Experience executing or managing Small Business Innovative Research (SBIR) and/or Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR)
- Professional Military Education (Air Command and Staff College, Air War College, and/or equivalent Joint PME)

Additional Information
Pay Range: $101,420 - $143,324 base salary without locality. The locality will be determined based on the selected candidate's geographical location.
This position is eligible for remote work within the continental United States, no relocation is required nor will it be provided.
