    The 711th Human Performance Wing, (711 HPW), School of Aerospace Medicine (USAFSAM), Aerospace Medicine Department (FE), Aeromedical Consultation Services Division (FEC), Aerospace Medicine Brach (FECA) seeks to hire a senior-level, GP-15, Physician in Dayton, Ohio. The selectee will serve as a board certified physician and Aerospace Medicine Consultant responsible for in-person evaluations and consolidating the subject-matter expert (SME) input into cogent and concise Aeromedical risk assessments and recommendations.

    Position duties include, but are not limited to:

    • Serves as a board-certified physician and expert consultant or advisor to the Chief of Aerospace Medicine Branch.
    • Serves as a clinical consultant, assisting with Aeromedical case evaluations, to include running case conferences.
    • In support of the Aerospace Medicine Branch Chief, serves as SME managing external clinical consultations for the Aerospace Medicine Branch.
    • Manages in-person evaluation of patients for whom there is no in-house specialty consultant.
    • Collaborates with external consultants to provide review of aeromedical cases.
    • Serves as liaison between the ACS and external specialty SME consultants.
    • Consolidates SME input into cogent and concise aeromedical risk assessments and recommendations
    • Works with the Aerospace Medical Branch and Aeromedical Consultation services Division to ensure control for the content of ACS products.
    • Ensures sound aeromedical decision-making, academic fidelity, consistency with Air Force policy, historical context/precedent, internal consistency, etc.
    • Works with other FEC Division designees in updating and managing the aeromedical waiver guide and educating Resident of Aerospace Medicine (RAMs).
    • Provides aeromedical disposition quality control on aeromedical cases prior to sending out to waiver authority.
    • Accomplishes evaluation reports & case reviews/aeromedical case letters in conjunction with FECA Branch Chief and staff.
    • Provides accurate and effective guidance and feedback to medical team members in a collegial and professional manner to facilitate team-based clinical operations that result in effective, efficient, timely, and cohesive patient care.
    • Assists FECA Branch Chief with Management/Study Group oversight.
    • Serves as an alternate point of contact for non-patient consults.
    • Supports the FECA Branch Chief and FEC Division Chief with oversight of drug reviews.
    • Assists FECA Branch Chief and FECA administrative personnel with development of ACS metrics.
    • Serves as a member of the Process Improvement Working Group (PIWG).
    • Participates in monthly peer review and quality of care reviews and provides feedback in accordance with established guidelines.

    Required Qualifications

    • Degree, Doctor of Medicine or equivalent
    • Licensure or Registration as a Physician
    • United States Citizenship
    • Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance
    • Males must be registered for Selective Service, see www.sss.gov

    • This position is subject to the provisions of the DoD Priority Placement Program.
    • Employees may be required to work other than normal duty hours. It includes evenings, weekends and/or holidays.
    • Selectee may be required to serve a probationary or trial period.
    • This position may require travel.
    • Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade, GP-14, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience include 5 years of graduate training, the specialty of the position to be filled or equivalent experience and training.
