    Job Overview

    This announcement will be accepting applications from October 15, 2024, to November 15, 2024.

    The Space Vehicles Directorate, located in the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) discovers, develops, and transitions innovative high-payoff space technologies to support the warfighter, while leveraging commercial, civil and other government space capabilities that ensure America's advantage. We are civilian & military scientists supported by on-site contractors working in collaboration with academia, international partners, and industry to mature and transition innovative ideas into game-changing capabilities.

    • Seeking a highly creative researcher to design, develop, and test Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning (AI/ML) and other data analytics techniques for processing radar and Radio Frequency (RF) data collected by satellites, particularly satellites that are in low earth orbit.
    • In this position you will develop computational tools for analyzing/exploiting space-based radar imagery, including synthetic aperture radar imagery, and RF signals to detect moving objects and generate information about their movement.
    • Build models & algorithms for processing space-based radar and RF data and develop computational tools to correlate radar and RF data with Electro-Optic/Infrared and other sensing modalities to exploit commercially available radar/RF data and develop multi-modality and multi-domain Moving Target Indications solutions.
    • Leads or independently performs Radio Frequency (RF) systems analysis to support program objectives and systems testing goals through professional engineering and scientific work involving the application of principles, techniques, methods and procedures related to aerospace, electronics, electrical and/or mechanical engineering.
    • Provides subject-matter expertise to review, analyze and assess RF systems provided by contractors, for both space and terrestrial equipment /applications.
    • Develops computational tools to analyze space-based radar imagery and RF signals.
    • Applies aerospace, electrical, and/or mechanical engineering practices, techniques and processes to assist in identifying and resolving research/data issues related to space vehicles.

    Required Qualifications

    • U.S. Citizenship Required
    • Candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret w/SCI Clearance
    • This is a Drug Testing Position. Incumbent is subject to random drug testing as a condition of employment
    • Required to handle and safeguard sensitive and/or classified information in accordance with regulations to reduce potential compromise. Employees must obtain and maintain appropriate security clearance
    • May be required to travel by military or commercial aircraft in the performance of TDY assignments
    • A science or engineering degree from an accredited academic institution

    Desired Qualifications

    • The ideal candidate will possess Radio Frequency data exploitation experience and/or knowledge
    • Possess knowledge skills and abilities to develop tools to analyze and exploit space-based imagery and RF signals
    • Possess knowledge skills or abilities to enable data fusion with other sensing modalities to create an operating picture for military decision makers
