    Job Overview

    The primary purpose of this position is to serve as the Air Force Research Laboratory, Information Directorate (AFRL/RI) Government Special Access Program Security Officer (GSSO), ensuring the program complies with legal and regulatory requirements while meeting customer needs.

    Position duties include, but are not limited to:

    • Act as the Government Special Access Program Security Officer (GSSO), assisting with the administration and evaluation of the functional management aspects of the DOD Special Security Programs.
    • Plan, organize, and direct the activities of the Government Special Access Program Security program, supporting critical research and development.
    • Develop goals and objectives that support the Information Protection needs of the organization.
    • Implement regulatory guidance for Classification Management and Safeguarding requirements and facilitate the application of national security policy to protect classified holdings.
    • Research, interpret, analyze and apply security guidelines, programs, methods, and procedures to execute a comprehensive security program.
    • Provide security awareness training to employees.
    • Investigate security incidents and breaches.
    • Coordinate with other agencies to process security actions and address security concerns.

    Required Qualifications

    • United States Citizenship
    • Males must be registered for Selective Service. See www.sss.gov
    • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance
    • This is a drug testing designated position. The incumbent will be subject to random testing
    • At least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade: DO-01, GS-11, or equivalent in other pay systems. Specialized Experience is experience directly related to the position that was performed at a level equivalent to the grade directly below the position.
    • This position requires the following certifications; IAW with AFI 36-2645: Security Fundamentals Professional Certification (SFPC) and Security Asset Protection Professional Certification (SAPPC). Selectees will have 2 years to obtain the required certifications.
