Are you familiar with refinery process equipment and process hazard analysis? Reporting to the manager, process safety and operational excellence, you will be primarily responsible for preparing for and facilitating process hazard analysis (PHA) and layers of protection analysis (LOPA). You will also be supporting management of change (MOC) processes, pre-startup safety reviews (PSSR) and other risk assessment activities. Key Accountabilities Support the implementation and execution of process safety programs while providing technical guidance on all issues related to process safety Support the execution of MOC and pre-startup safety review (PSSR) processes in accordance with Suncor and regulatory requirements Coordinate and facilitate PHAs, LOPAs and other risk management as needed Champion special PHA studies for MOCs and projects as well as complete associated validation reports Provide site technical support for electronic management systems such as KMS and Enablon Build strong positive relationships to collaborate with refinery departments to coordinate process safety activities Champion the transfer of process safety knowledge to refinery personnel Assist in mentoring and developing process safety talent within other departments in the refinery Required Qualifications Experience and Education: Minimum of three years of experience conducting PHA Experience with safety instrumented systems and process controls Bachelor degree in engineering Skills and Knowledge: You have highly developed analytical skills; proficiency with MOC/PHA/LOPA/PHAST software packages is preferred You possess a strong understanding of refinery processes to make sound recommendations for hazard controls and safeguards You have strong time management skills and can stay calm under pressure, manage priorities, and react promptly to meet deadlines with high-quality work You collaborate with others in order to achieve the best results and deliver the most value Effective organizational skills to prioritize and lead projects/initiatives within tight deadlines; you are highly motivated, resourceful and resilient Self-motivated, works independently and committed to continuous improvement Working Conditions This position is based at the Commerce City refinery in Colorado You thrive in a dynamic environment with multiple priorities, challenging demands and strict deadlines Why Suncor We want you to have a job youre genuinely excited about as well as opportunities to learn and challenge yourself.
