JOB SUMMARY
The Security Specialist ensures implementation of security processes and procedures at UPS facilities. He/She addresses physical and asset security, dishonesty, and employee security issues. This position monitors claim and damage information to identify trends and respond appropriately.
A core responsibility of this position is dealing with theft risk. To address this, the Security Specialist examines theft and open package data to determine links to company employees, and inspects package delivery center facilities and property to check for unsecured access areas. He/she also conducts physical audits of delivery vehicles and potential theft areas in the package delivery centers (e.g., bathrooms, trash cans, etc.). This position is also responsible for analyzing package claims. Duties include reviewing paid claims data to identify accounts that needed attention, and evaluating claims data from specific package delivery centers. The Security Specialist also produces the monthly claims report for each division to summarize claims information, trends, and analysis. A third security duty is monitoring high risk shippers. This involves reviewing the High Risk Shipper report to verify receipt of high risk packages (e.g., cell phones, computers, etc.), and monitoring high risk account documentation to ensure pickup and delivery guidelines are followed. The Security Specialist also partners with package delivery center management to conduct high risk account audits.
