Finance Development Program Overview:
AbbVie’s Finance Development Program (FDP) consists of four rotations over two years to prepare you for financial management roles. The roles are crafted to help you develop exceptional functional and leadership traits by working on a wide range of projects, while providing exposure to different leaders in the company. These finance experiences will develop you and put you on the fast track to future finance leadership opportunities at AbbVie.

Accounting: The Accounting COE governs AbbVie’s global accounting function, establishing and monitoring global policy, procedures, and controls for One AbbVie.
Financial Planning and Analysis (FP &A): FP&A drives business performance by serving as trusted advisors and partners who influence strategy, enable operation excellence, and maintain a strong controls environment.
Finance Shared Services: Finance Shared Services governs and supports AbbVie’s global, standardized, end-to-end, back-office processes, maintaining the operations and transactional business activities that enable the company to run.
Internal Audit: Internal Audit protects and enhances organizational value by providing risk-based and objective assurance, advice, and insight.
Investor Relations: The Investor Relations (IR) function is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing a comprehensive, strategic, and proactive investor relations program that optimizes the value of AbbVie’s stock. IR serves as a primary point of interface to introduce, position, and market the company to equity analysts and large institutional investors. IR disseminates key company information regarding AbbVie’s corporate strategy, financial performance, and product/pipeline performance to assist investors in making informed investment decisions. The IR team works closely with numerous functions within the company, including the Executive Leadership Team, Finance, Commercial, Legal, R&D, Public Affairs, Business Development, Government Affairs, etc.
Tax and Global Trade Compliance (GTC): Tax is a trusted business partner that enables our business by fulfilling tax legal obligations and through collaboration with key finance and operational functions. By managing the domestic and international tax profile, Tax delivers value to the company and shareholders.
Treasury: Treasury provides centralized and efficient global business support in the areas of banking, foreign exchange, financial risk management, investments and capital structure that ensures adequate liquidity for the company and its subsidiaries. In addition to the HQ location in Lake County, Treasury has regional centers in Singapore, the Netherlands, and Colombia.
In addition to gaining the above functional experience, you will also work cross functionally in a matrix environment, building your business acumen, and participating in key training sessions.
During your two years as an FDP member, you can expect to complete four separate professional work assignments within finance areas, such as:
Most FDP members will be placed within one of AbbVie’s offices in Lake County, IL for their first rotation, with the possibility of an initial placement or rotation in any U.S. AbbVie location. Global placements are also possible. Placements will be based on business needs and our ability to accommodate individuals' preferences, when possible.
