The Product Development, Science & Technology (PDS&T) organization within AbbVie Operations leads the optimization, validation, implementation, continuous improvement, and global technical support for therapeutic proteins. The PDS&T Co-Op program provides students with robust projects based on business need. Students will do meaningful work that has a real impact on our business and patients worldwide.
BioProcess Development: The department’s mission is to design, deliver and support the biologics manufacturing processes for AbbVie’s pipeline and partnered products through clinical development and commercial life cycle with quality, speed, and manufacturing excellence. This is achieved through a focus on targeted product quality, CMC acceleration, people development, and efficient workflows. Key groups include: Cell line development, Cell culture process development, Purification process development, Scale-up lab, and Analytical development. We are seeking an outstanding co-op graduate student to join our cell culture development and analytical development teams. This role will be at the intersection of cell-based assays, analytical assays, robotics (Hamilton and Biomek automation systems), and data analytics. Your contributions will help us shape the future of bioprocess development for the manufacturing of complex biologics.

Minimum Qualifications
Currently enrolled in university, pursuing a PhD in Chemistry/Chemical Engineering, Biosciences/Bioengineering or other related field.
Must be enrolled in university for at least one semester following the co-op.
Expected graduation date between December 2025 – July 2026.
Must be able to commit to a 6-month program at AbbVie Bioresearch Center (ABC) in Worcester, MA (June / July - December).
Knowledge of biology/biochemistry, cell metabolism and protein characterization as applied in CHO cell culture development.
Proficient in aseptic techniques, including thaw, passaging and banking of mammalian cell lines in a biosafety cabinet.
Deep understanding on and prior hands-on experience with the development of absorbance, fluorescence and luminescence assays for cell characterization.
Theoretical and practical knowledge to carry out method development and qualification.
Experience in separation-based assays including but not limited to UPLC/HPLC based methods, capillary electrophoresis (CE), and imaged capillary isoelectric focusing (icIEF)
