    Flow Photochemistry Graduate Intern Overview

    As an intern on the API Pipeline Products team within the Product Development Science and Technology group, you will have an incredible opportunity to apply cutting-edge techniques in both photochemistry and reaction engineering to develop and optimize a chemical synthesis. The goal of this experience is to develop expertise in both flow chemistry and photochemistry and, in doing so, translate new process technologies into tangible improvements in reaction yield and commercial viability. Under the mentorship of experienced researchers, you will have the chance to contribute to meaningful advancements in photochemical flow synthesis technologies in the biopharmaceutical industry. You will collaborate closely with process engineers, process chemists, analytical chemists, and managers to efficiently integrate flow technology into a photochemical reaction.

    Key responsibilities include:

    • Receive mentorship and training as needed on principles of photochemistry and flow engineering.
    • Design and set up photochemical reaction experiments using flow chemistry systems.
    • Test different chemical reaction and flow parameters and assess impact on reaction yield, transport phenomena, and throughput.
    • Prepare technical reports and presentations on process improvements and scale-up potential.

    Qualifications

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Currently enrolled in university, pursuing a PhD in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or other related field.
    • Must be enrolled in university for at least one semester following the internship.
    • Wet laboratory experience.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Expected graduation date between December 2025 – June 2026.
    • Basic understanding of photochemistry and/or flow chemistry.
    • Experience with analytical techniques such as HPLC and mass spectrometry.
