    2025 Quantitative Translational ADME Sciences (QTAS) Internship Overview

    Envision spending your summer working with energetic colleagues and inspirational leaders, all while gaining world-class experience in one of the most dynamic organizations in the pharmaceutical industry. This is a reality for AbbVie Interns.

    The intern will work with experienced scientists in the Integrated Sciences Team for endogenous molecule and custom bioanalysis in Quantitative Translational ADME Sciences (QTAS.) The project will involve application of peptide characterization with a combination of cellular and molecular biology, and analytical methodologies to support discovery programs. The research will further our understanding of molecular mechanisms associated with Proteolysis Targeting Chimeras (PROTACs.) Through interactions with multidisciplinary groups, the student will gain a rich, broader perspective on pharmaceutical discovery and development, as well as experience with cutting-edge technologies.

    This internship will be based in North Chicago, IL.

    Key responsibilities include:

    • Learn and apply related analytical technologies.
    • Planning and executing research related to further understanding of PROTAC therapeutics.

    Qualifications

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Currently enrolled in university, pursuing a PhD in Biochemistry, Analytical Chemistry or other related field
    • Must be enrolled in university for at least one semester following the internship
    • Candidate should have basic research skills such as pipetting, documenting experiments, safe laboratory practices, and analytical techniques
    • Candidate should be familiar with Mass Spectrometry and general proteomics workflows

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Expected graduation date between December 2025 – July 2026
    • An ideal candidate would have previous LC / MS experience
    • First-author publication in proteomics research is a plus
