Strategy Development Program Internship Description
The Corporate Business & Strategy Office (CBSO) works closely with senior leaders and functions across AbbVie to drive mission-critical initiatives and pursue external innovation opportunities that will make a real difference for patients, while positioning AbbVie for sustained top-tier growth. The group consists of integrated teams focused on corporate strategy, partnership management, search & evaluation of external innovation opportunities, business development & acquisitions, and transformation initiatives.
As a Strategy Development Program Intern, you will join the CBSO and work on meaningful assignments that have a real impact on our business and patients worldwide.
AbbVie’s worldwide business offers you an opportunity to work in a variety of fields. All internship assignments are different and based on business need; however, below are some examples of the work that you may be involved in as part of your internship:
Analyzing acceleration levers to maximize an asset or brand
Supporting roll out of new capabilities to enhance R&D performance
Supporting AbbVie’s long-range planning process
Conducting competitive analysis to support pipeline decision making for key oncology assets
Supporting strategic partnership interactions
Location:
Interns will be located at our corporate headquarters in North Chicago, Lake County, IL.
Minimum Qualifications:
Must be enrolled in an accredited Masters (preferred) or Bachelors program, preferably with an emphasis in life sciences or healthcare
Must be enrolled in an accredited Masters (preferred) or Bachelors program the semester following your internship and graduate between December 2025 – June 2026.
Preferred Qualifications:
Cumulative GPA of 3.00 or higher preferred.
Demonstrated leadership potential.
Strong analytical skills.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
High learning agility and initiative.
Demonstrated interested in Healthcare through course work, internships or related experience
Basic/intermediate experience in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams)
Ability to work in a collaborative team setting
AbbVie strongly considers high performing interns as candidates for their Strategy Development Program (SDP) after they graduate. AbbVie’s (SDP) is a 3-year rotational program with three separate work assignments. The rotations are carried out in a variety of functional areas such as: Corporate Strategy, Competitive and Strategic Insights, Enterprise Innovation and Transformation and Alliance Management.
