    Job Description

    Purpose:

    The Assistant Project Planner is responsible for translating the strategies of Asset Strategy Teams (ASTs) into AbbVie’s Asset Management Platform (AMP) through the development and maintenance of project plans, timelines, data quality, and reporting requirements. This position requires using standardized project management tools and processes to assist ASTs in decision making for drug and device development across the R&D Portfolio and will require strong and consistent communications within a matrix organization.

    Responsibilities:

    • Provide project management support to drug development projects, including timeline tracking with critical path, risk management, finance support, organization, and communication (e.g. Sharepoint sites, cross functional alignment etc.).
    • Understands drug development strategy and how to communicate strategy through planning relationships and tools. Proactively collaborates across functional areas to ensure alignment on project timelines and strategies and ensures that the appropriate information is entered into AMP through direct entry at the asset level as well as coaching and assistance with functions.
    • Manages the Project Management Team in collaboration with a director of Portfolio Program Management with the objective of fostering strong communication, collaboration, and alignment within the matrix organization.
    • Support Project Managers with project plan maintenance and information reporting. Provide data entry for change requests. Utilize QC reports to ensure proper input of project information and accuracy of data.
    • Drives the development of multiple project planning scenarios in collaboration with AST members; assists with the identification, monitoring and analysis of business risks.
    • Recognizes when corrective action and planning are necessary and assists with root cause analysis (escalating recommendations to Managers).
    • Identifies opportunities for improvement of departmental work processes and collaborates on implementing the solution.
    • Prioritize tasks with effective use of time.
    • Provide general training support, administration and guidance regarding project management practices and systems to departmental staff and clients who use Project Office tools.
    • Builds a strong network within the department and functional areas; interacts well with all levels of the organization.

    Qualifications

    •Bachelors degree required, preferably in a technical, scientific or project management related discipline.
    •2+ years professional work experience, preferably in project management, system based processes, or the pharmaceutical or biotech industry, and/or 6+ months working in the planner role as part of a SkillBridge, shadow, or rotational experience.
    •Must be self-directed and work well in a team environment, be able to work on multiple projects concurrently and meet commitments, possess excellent oral and written communication skills, be process-oriented, convert goals to tasks and define estimates on time and requirements to achieve goal objectives, and demonstrate initiative.
    •The incumbent must be able to discern the difference between general vs. confidential/sensitive reporting information and act accordingly.
    •Proficient technology skills (e.g., MS Office software, MS Project, Qlikview, Planisware etc.) desired.

Individual compensation paid within this range will depend on many factors including geographic location, and we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range.
