    The Worldwide (WW) Medical Learning Team plays a critical role in ensuring that healthcare providers are educated on the appropriate use of our medicines and have the information they need to improve outcomes for their patients. We develop strategies, tools, and guidance to empower Medical and Field Medical (FM) teams across the globe to perform effectively and compliantly, thereby ensuring high quality scientific exchange with the healthcare community.

    The WW Scientific Learning AD for Oncology is accountable for planning, developing, implementing/facilitating and evaluating scientific learning initiatives for the BMS oncology portfolio, with a strong focus on field medical (FM) and home office medical (HOM) teams outside the USA (focus: major markets, intercon). The incumbent will be accountable for designing, developing, deploying, and maintaining therapeutic area (TA) onboarding for new FM and HOM team members in oncology and will collaborate with Scientific Learning colleagues and Worldwide Medical Affairs partners to develop strategic scientific learning plans to support medical teams for product launches. Based on business needs, the AD will develop and implement scientific learning initiatives on a regular basis and update scientific learning program/logs for FM and HOM teams in the therapeutic area on, at least, an annual basis. The incumbent will partner closely with US Scientific Learning colleagues to ensure alignment of TA scientific learning strategies, support TA-aligned US Scientific Learning teammates if, and as needed, and partner with colleagues (WW Medical Learning Skills & Leadership Development, Scientific Learning, Global Field Medical Excellence, WW Medical Affairs, WW Medical Communications, and Commercialization Learning (amongst other stakeholders)) to identify and prioritize scientific learning needs for worldwide FM and HOM teams aligned with WW Medical Affairs strategy for each disease area. The AD will also partner closely across the matrix for commercialization needs.

    ** Core Responsibilities**

    • Reports to the Director, Hematology/Oncology Scientific Learning within the WW Medical Learning organization; collaborates closely with WW Medical Affairs, Scientific Learning, WW Commercialization Learning, Global Field Medical Excellence, WW Medical Communications and other Scientific Communications and Engagement stakeholders to ensure alignment
    • Ensures support for WW (focus: major markets, intercon) FM and HOM oncology scientific learning efforts and aligns with US Scientific Learning colleagues to ensure efficiencies across markets, align with medical strategy and support projects as needed (e.g., Annual Medical Congress, Medical Trainer Academy, Commercialization Learning events and meetings, Annual Training Needs Assessments)
    • Leads design, development, and deployment of new hire TA scientific learning plans (e.g., self-directed curricula, onboarding guides, Knowledge Roadmaps), new hire training, assessments, and ongoing scientific learning initiatives for WW (focus: major markets, intercon) FM and HOM teams
    • Plans, executes and maintains all training for oncology related to WW clinical trial support
    • Collaborates with Scientific Learning Directors, WW Medical Learning, WW Medical Affairs, Global Field Medical Excellence, WW Medical Communications, and other Scientific Communications and Engagement colleagues to assess and address scientific learning needs of WW FM and HOM teams; partners with Scientific Learning, Director Cross-Portfolio to support annual training needs assessments and pull-through of pan-TA medical leadership initiatives
    • Evaluates effectiveness of onboarding and strategically planned ongoing scientific learning materials; ensures updated resources are available (e.g. disease state, BMS data, scientific narratives, competitive landscape)
    • Identifies learning opportunities and develops programs to support the ongoing development and training of WW (focus: major markets, intercon) FM and HOM teams (in collaboration with the US Scientific Learning partner, WW Medical Affairs, WW Medical Learning Skills & Development team, Global Field Medical Excellence, WW Medical Communications, Scientific Communications & Engagement, and WW Commercialization Learning teams
    • Leads strategic planning and execution of scientific learning to ensure launch readiness for WW markets (focus: major markets, intercon)
    • Pulls through WW Medical Affairs strategy to WW medical colleagues (in close collaboration with Global Field Medical Excellence, WW Medical Affairs and WW Medical Learning teams)
    • Partners across WW Medical Learning to ensure WW scientific learning plans and materials leverage existing resources and enhance medical skills and leadership
    • Coordinates and aligns with commercialization matrix partners as needed (e.g., marketing, commercial sales training)
    • Creates or adapts resources and tools that support WW FM and HOM teams in the effective delivery of BMS product information and data to healthcare professionals
    • Evaluates scientific learning materials and programs, recommends ongoing scientific learning needs and modifies programs based on input and approval from members of the Leadership Teams
    • Develops and conducts training of new processes or technology implementation for the field and home office medical functions
    • Researches and collaborates with Global Field Medical Excellence, Medical Skills & Leadership Development, US Scientific Learning partners, and WW Medical Affairs teams to select outside speakers/consultants to deliver timely discussions/presentations on important TA-related medical topics as needed

    Other Responsibilities

    • Conducts business in accordance with Bristol Myers Squibb Values.
    • Completes all assigned SOPs and training within designated timeframe and adheres to job-specific SOPs, WPs, and Guidance Documents
    • Demonstrates flexibility during times of competing priorities
    • Uploads and manages archiving of training materials, strategic plans, etc using BMS platforms
      • Participates in training of new team hires as appropriate
    • Participates in on-the-job training programs to enhance professional growth

    _ Qualifications & Experience_

    • Advanced degree required: MD, DO, PharmD, DNP, PhD, or MSN strongly preferred
    • 5+ years clinical oncology/hematology experience (will consider applicants with less experience for senior manager level)
    • 3+ years pharmaceutical / biotech experience as a field MSL, similar field-based position, or home office medical, with a proven track record of success (will consider applicants with less experience for senior manager level)
    • Experience and strong skills in public presentation
    • Exceptional organizational and planning skills
    • Ability to effectively interact cross-functionally and across geographies
    • Ability to assess workload and prioritize projects under tight deadlines
    • Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills and the ability to build and maintain internal and external partnerships
    • Knowledge of adult learning principles and design of effective learning solutions
    • Flexible, with positive attitude; highly motivated self-starter willing to work in an environment where individual initiative, accountability to the team, and professional maturity
    • High level of personal commitment and results-orientation
    • Ability to manage and coordinate complex projects with minimal direction
