    Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Electrical Engineer to join our dynamic team within the Product Development, Science and Technology organization responsible for developing and supporting electro-mechanical medical devices. This role involves end-to-end development of high-quality, reliable electronics systems and requires hands-on proficiency in electronics troubleshooting, design, and system level integration.

    Responsibilities:

    • Design, develop, debug, test and provide hands-on technical support for electronics hardware within electromechanical medical devices at the component, board, and system level.
    • Create and validate schematics, PCB layouts, and component libraries for electronic assemblies using industry-standard circuit design software (e.g., Altium Designer, OrCAD, Eagle).
    • Perform hands-on prototyping, debugging, and troubleshooting of circuits including analog, digital, and mixed-signal designs.
    • Collaborate cross-functionally (e.g., software, mechanical, quality, manufacturing) to ensure system-level integration and functionality.
    • Evaluate and select components based on performance, availability, and cost considerations.
    • Contribute to system-level architecture and design, ensuring reliability, quality, and compliance with medical device standards (e.g., ISO 13485, IEC 60601).
    • Develop and maintain detailed design documentation, including design inputs/outputs, risk analysis (e.g., FMEA), and test protocols.
    • Contribute to product requirements definition at the sub-system and system level.
    • Participate in design reviews and provide feedback related to electronics hardware.
    • Execute manual or automated tests for verification and validation.
    • Drive improvements to product and process quality and efficiency.

    Qualifications

    • BS or MS in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
    • 5+ years of hands-on experience with prototyping, soldering, and troubleshooting electronics at the component, board and system level.
    • Proven experience using schematic capture and PCB layout tools (e.g., Altium Designer, OrCAD, Eagle).
    • Solid foundation and understanding of analog and digital circuit design, including low-power and designing for microcontrollers and embedded systems (e.g., ARM).
    • Experience working with firmware source code (C/C++) to aid in debugging, troubleshooting, and functional verification.
    • Proficient in using standard lab equipment (oscilloscopes, multimeters, signal generators, power supplies etc.) for testing and troubleshooting, at both the component and system levels.
    • Strong technical problem-solving analytical skills.
    • Effective communication and technical writing abilities.
    • Detail-oriented with a commitment to delivering compliant, high-quality designs.
    • Collaborative team player with the ability to work independently on projects.

    Preferred:

    • Experience with Altium Designer for schematic capture, PCB layout, and component library maintenance.
    • System-level design experience, with strong understanding of hardware/software/mechanical co-design.
    • Strong experience developing and debugging embedded software in C/C++ for ARM microcontrollers.
    • Familiarity with communication protocols (e.g., UART, I2C, SPI).
    • Knowledge of medical device standards (e.g., ISO 13485, IEC 60601).
    • Experience with EMI/EMC compliance testing and mitigation techniques.
