    KPMG is currently seeking an Intern for Enterprise Security Services.

    Responsibilities:

    • Support the security team by carrying out day-to-day operational tasks utilizing specialized applications, tools and platforms
    • Perform cross-functional activities such as data collection, analysis, development of custom reports and slide decks, as well as process improvement
    • Create and maintain system documentation for security tools and procedures, develop and maintain operational checklists, perform system health checks, create test cases for new tools.
    • Perform functional tests of new security tools, provide test results and feedback to internal teams and vendors
    • Stay abreast of the latest information security controls, practices, techniques and capabilities in the marketplace. Participate in internal skills development activities for information security personnel on the topic of security monitoring and incident response, by providing knowledge sharing sessions
    • Develop and keep effective working relationships with peers
    • Leverage intelligence, monitor for threats and vulnerabilities and respond accordingly, including the development of risk mitigating approaches; as a continuous feedback loop, incorporate learnings into additional preventive and detective controls
    • Implement security configuration for monitoring tools, including alerts, correlation rules, and reporting; leverage a combination of vendor products and services, open source and custom developed utilities
    • Leverage automation and orchestration to improve efficiency and effectiveness of security monitoring and response processes; document processes and procedures in the form of playbooks and reference guides

    Qualifications:

    • Must be enrolled in an accredited college or university and pursuing the following degrees/majors; Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Forensics, Computer Science, Cyber Security, Engineering, Information Management, Information Systems, Information Technology, Management Information Systems or equivalent program
    • Must have a current/most recent GPA of 3.0 or above
    • Ability to learn new tools and processes to assist in advancing the firm's security posture
    • Must be interested in pursuing professional certifications, as required for the role
    • Understanding of IT security concepts, including networking and related technologies; some hands-on experience (e.g. intern; college lab experience) performing related activities
    • Exposure to security monitoring, security operations, and incident response activities is preferred
    • Experience creating playbooks and procedures or similar documentation; experience with scripting or automation
    • Experience tuning security monitoring rules, monitoring events, assessing risk, responding to incidents is preferred
    • Hands on network or system administration skills or experience with security infrastructure is preferred
    • Excellent verbal/written communication, collaboration, analytical and presentation skills to lead an environment driven by customer service and teamwork
    • Work location may be in the office, at client sites, or virtual/remote depending on business need. You must be located within the U.S. when working remotely. Client site locations may require travel and overnight/extended stay
