Assistant Financial Analyst / Closing Coordinator
Job Description
The Financial Analyst is responsible for analyzing and interpreting potential acquisition, rehab and development opportunities in the multifamily sector. Our growing portfolio consists of a mix of affordable, student housing and senior living multifamily apartment communities financed with combinations of private activity bonds, 501(c)(3) bonds, low income housing tax credits and market rate mortgages. The Financial Analyst will work closely with the President & CEO, Development & Acquisitions team, and other internal department staff as well as third party vendors and consultants. The Financial Analyst reports to the Senior Financial Analyst and supports the effort of the Development & Acquisitions team.
Job Responsibilities:
Perform financial analysis/modeling, cash flow projections, and spreadsheet analysis in Excel
Attend a variety of conference calls for exposure to the overall transaction process
Help analyze income and expense metrics along with overall property performance for assets earmarked for rehab
Support the underwriting, analysis and execution of real estate acquisitions
Tour selected rehab and existing assets and visit with on-site staff
Assist with standardization of operating procedures
Create, monitor, track and interpret project data including contracts, schedules, budgets and cash‐flows on an on‐going basis
Assist with organizing the Development files, attend meetings with municipalities and council members as the opportunity arises
Other duties and special projects as assigned
Qualifications
Minimum 2 years of experience in the real estate industry, preferably in an analytical role
Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, real estate, or related fields
Proven research, analytical and problem solving skills
Ability to multi-task, work under pressure with minimal oversight, display a high degree of initiative and accuracy and effectively manage time and workload
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel, conditional formulas and formatting
Strong attention to detail
Willingness and ability to travel upon occasion
Must possess the confidence that work product is accurate and complete
Outstanding written and oral communication skills
