About the Role
We are seeking a talented and motivated Mechanical Designer to join our growing team in Austin, TX! In this role, you will be an integral part of our design process, working on a diverse portfolio of projects in the commercial, higher education, K-12, and governmental sectors. You will have the opportunity to contribute to the full lifecycle of projects, from conceptual design to construction administration, while collaborating with experienced engineers and mentoring junior staff.
Responsibilities:
- Perform HVAC load calculations using industry-standard software.
- Design and size medium-pressure and low-pressure ductwork systems.
- Design and size hydronic piping systems for heating and cooling applications.
- Develop detailed HVAC control diagrams and sequences of operation.
- Coordinate mechanical loads and requirements with electrical engineers.
- Prepare construction documents, including drawings and specifications, using Revit.
- Contribute to the development of project proposals and technical reports.
- Mentor and provide guidance to junior engineers and EITs.
- Participate in site visits and construction administration activities.
- Stay abreast of the latest industry trends and technologies.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution.
- EIT certification or Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
- 3-7 years of experience in the design of HVAC and plumbing systems for commercial, institutional, or governmental facilities.
- Proficiency in Revit MEP is essential.
- Strong understanding of HVAC and plumbing principles, codes, and standards.
- Experience with HVAC load calculation software.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Bonus Points:
- Experience with energy modeling and sustainable design practices.
- Familiarity with LEED or other green building rating systems.
- Knowledge of building automation systems.
