As a Principal Engineer at AKM, you will play a critical role in leading and managing complex water resources projects from conception to completion. You will work closely with our President/Principal in Charge and collaborate with a talented team of engineers, planners, and technical specialists to deliver exceptional results for our clients.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the Way: Take ownership of large-scale, complex water resources projects, including planning, design, and construction management for potable water, recycled water, wastewater, and stormwater systems.
- Project Management Expertise: Manage all aspects of project delivery, including scope development, budget management, scheduling, and resource allocation.
- Technical Excellence: Oversee the design of pipelines, pump stations, reservoirs, wells, treatment plants, and storm drain facilities, ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations and standards.
- Mentorship and Guidance: Supervise and mentor junior engineers and technical staff, fostering their professional development and growth.
- Client Relationships: Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, effectively communicating project updates, addressing concerns, and ensuring client satisfaction.
- Business Development: Contribute to the growth of AKM by assisting in the preparation of proposals, presentations, and marketing materials.
- Continuous Improvement: Stay abreast of industry trends and best practices, actively seeking opportunities to enhance our services and deliver innovative solutions.
Qualifications:
- Extensive Experience: A minimum of 10+ years of progressive experience in water resources engineering, with at least 5+ years in a supervisory role. (Specific years of experience will be determined based on the level of the candidate.)
- Licensed Professional: Registration as a Professional Civil Engineer (PE) in the State of California is required.
- Water Industry Expertise: A minimum of 5+ years of experience working for a water utility company, water district, or a local agency's water engineering/utilities division.
- Strong Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively present technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Regulatory Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of state, federal, and local regulations, policies, and standards related to water resources engineering.
- Software Proficiency: Competent use of MS Office Suite and industry-standard civil engineering software.
