    RGD Senior Mechanical Engineer, P.E. (Orlando, Florida)

    RGD Consulting Engineers is seeking a licensed Mechanical Engineer (P.E.) to join our collaborative team in Orlando, FL. This role is crucial to provide mechanical engineering consulting services for a variety of clients in various sectors. Coordinate with other engineering disciplines and construction personnel to provide mechanical engineering services for the full life cycle of projects, from conceptual planning to completed construction. In this role, you will have the opportunity to work closely with RGD’s leadership team, alongside architects, contractors, developers, and other consultants to drive the company's growth in the MEP sector.

    Job Responsibilities

    • Lead the mechanical design team for a variety of clients.

    • Coach and develop less experienced staff.

    • Planning, design, & production of mechanical building systems using REVIT.

    • Develop and manage design and construction documents including flow diagrams, plans and sections, details, specifications, equipment schedules, and calculations

    • Size and specify mechanical equipment including air handling units, chillers, cooling towers, compressors, etc.

    • Undertake site surveys, field investigations, condition surveys and feasibility studies for proposed projects and prepare reports.

    • Coordinate with other disciplines including site civil, structural, electrical, instrumentation, controls and architectural to create and update drawings and main documentation.

    • Ensure that cost, customer service, quality, schedule, and safety are incorporated into the design from commencement through completion.

    • Design of systems that meet green building standards.

    • Address questions and issues during construction.

    • Proactively work on best practices, engineering guidelines and internal procedures.

    • Maintain internal and external networks to be informed of new developments in the field

    • Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

    • Supervise mechanical, plumbing and fire protection engineering staff of up to 12-14 designers and engineers to achieve engineering product and scheduling goals.

    • Participate in weekly staff and scheduling meetings for allocation of staff resources.

    • Lead internal mechanical engineering QCQA efforts.

    • Co-leadership position in leading coordination efforts between all disciplines (IE: mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection electrical and low voltage engineering)

    • Participate in business development activities.

    • Prepare conceptual and schematic HVAC, plumbing and fire sprinkler design documents.

    • Prepare CSI formatted specifications for Divisions 21, 22 and 23.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering.

    • Proven engineering supervisory experience. • Ability to assist in recruiting, developing and retention of top engineering talent.

    • Minimum of 8-10 years Mechanical Engineering Design (HVAC, plumbing and fire protection) experience with commercial and residential architectural projects.

    • Licensed engineer in the State of Florida, but if not, must have a current NCEES record to be able to obtain a Florida license. (Must be in good standing and without past disciplinary actions.)

    • Working knowledge of Revit.

    • Proficient in computer-based HVAC load calculations. (Trane, Carrier HAP E-20, Elite, etc.) • Proficient with MS Office Suite, Bluebeam, and Adobe PDF • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

    • High attention to detail • Strong ability to prioritize while utilizing time management skills in meeting deadlines.
