    Job Description

    OVERALL JOB SUMMARY: The Area Visual Manager is responsible for supporting the Sales and Profit in the Area by setting a Visual plan to deliver the Best Customer Experience in line with your Area goals and Country Visual focuses.

    The AVM will ensure stores have the Best Visual Teams by actively working with succession planning, talent development and structured performance management, based on results, values and leadership.

    The role will work in accordance with legal requirements and H&M standards, policies and procedures to meet the expectations of customers and colleagues.

    This position is based in Seattle, Washington within our Sales Function and reports to our Area Sales Manager. Store Visual Managers will have an indirect reporting relationship.

    CORE RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDES BUT IS NOT LIMITED TO*:

    • Ensure that you and your team are up-to-date and understand current fashion trends, visual guidelines, styling techniques and competitor landscape so you can anticipate your customer needs.
    • Share, inspire and educate your Area and store teams on seasonal fashion information during kick offs, meetings and store visits.
    • Secure a constantly high visual level in stores that is both inspirational and competitive according to the global guidelines.
    • Inspire and motivate your teams to deliver excellent indirect customer service in their stores through 100% implementation of the Commercial handbook.
    • Ensure that the visual execution meets H&M’s expectations with the use of the customer experience tool.
    • Ensure your Store VM teams secure visual routines (sample picking, planning etc.) to create clear garment presentation and wearable buying suggestions throughout the store.
    • Follow up the implementation of the Commercial handbook through regular coaching store visits with feedback.
    • Secure implementation of local commercial plan and follow-up for all sales campaigns and activities according to H&M guidelines.
    • Supporting expansion needs in your Area with effective planning for new stores, rebuilds and up keeping.
    • Establishes best practice on quantity, condition and maintenance for all Visual Merchandiser material and visual scheme orders, display stock and interior materials with sustainability in mind.
    • Regular collaboration with Sales Visual Manager to communicate Area level.
    • Evaluate, develop and map the visual performance of the store teams in the Area through coaching visits, training and workshops.
    • Together with your Store Visual Managers and Store Managers, identify visual talent and secure development plans accordingly.
    • Set action/improvement plans for Store Visual Manager and Visual Merchandiser roles together with SMs. 
    • Work actively with succession planning for all visual roles in the Area to secure a sustainable pipeline.
    • Ensure role clarity for all VM roles in your Area and that all store management teams understand the responsibilities of these roles.
    • Together with Area HR Manager identify VM recruitment needs and ensure visual recruitment follows global best practice.
    • Plan and deliver quality visual trainings for all visual roles (Introduction training, sample picking and styling training).

  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Visual Merchandising preferred or equivalent years of work experience
    • 5+  years of past retail visual merchandising experience
    • 3+ years in a retail fashion field management position
    • Strong visual merchandising skills and ability to drive business through creativity and commerciality
    • Strong commitment and experience with providing a high level of customer service
    • Ability to coach and counsel staff and performance management and progressive discipline techniques
    • Proficient at Microsoft Office
    • Must be able to work with hand and power operated tools and lift up to 25 pounds in order to execute display set-ups
    • Required domestic travel at least 75% of the time for store visits and meetings

    COMPENSATION:

    Hiring Range is $79,000 - $89,000 annually**
