A Human Resource (HR) Specialist is a professional responsible for managing a broad range of HR functions within a company, including recruitment, onboarding, employee benefits administration, performance evaluations, employee relations, policy enforcement, and ensuring compliance with labor laws, all while fostering a positive work environment and supporting employee development across the employee lifecycle. As our Human Resources Specialist, you will be managing job board postings, reviewing applications, and conducting onboarding for new hires. You will also be working closely with other departments to ensure HR compliance, update records, conduct audits, and assist with training and development plans for all staff members. The ideal candidate has a good understanding of basic HR policies and US labor laws, has excellent communication skills, and can maintain a high level of confidentiality.
Skills:
Previous experience in an HR environment preferred
Familiarity with computer programs, such as Microsoft Office suite of products and common Human Resources software
Deep understanding of HR policies and US labor laws

DUTIES AND TASKS:
Recruitment and Hiring - Manage job board listings, employee hiring, and onboarding paperwork. Perform initial interview and screening. Arrange for on-site interviews with managers.
Perform candidate screening including running background, arranging for drug and DOT Medical Tests, and MVR Record running.
Assist in training and development including creating and updating SOPs as needed.
Perform on-boarding of all new employees.
Ensure company is adhering to all applicable employment postings in all locations.
Ensure company is adhering to all applicable labor laws.
Prepare Bi-weekly payroll in ADP Payroll System.
Manage employee review and pay increase process and documentation including forms and timely completion.
Manage employee termination process and documentation as needed.
Update and create new job descriptions as needed.
Track and ensure proper compliance with DOT Medical cards.
Maintain up to date driver list for insurance purposes.
Manage all employee benefits including reviews of options and negotiations with providers.
Counsel management and staff on HR policies and procedures to establish best practices and create a positive work environment
Implement training or development plans for employees in many different roles
Update employee records, record data changes, and maintain good records
Handle disciplinary actions (employee writeups and verbal warnings) and proper documentation for termination where needed
Handle documentation and gathering/maintaining backups for employees.
Handle document and information audits, as required
Maintain a high level of integrity and confidentiality
Maintain all employees in the ADP Payroll System including adding, removing, and updating
Manage and track employee loans
Assist in the development and deployment of bonus programs as needed.
Research and recommend pay rates that maintain our competitiveness in the market
Work out of Atlanta office

Onboarding for benefits - logging into Horton and entering
Securing health benefits and researching others
Workers comp insurance benefits
General insurance and liabilities quoting
Fielding employee questions about payroll and benefits
Putting out company news letter
Going to each location twice a year to discuss benefits - employee safety checks
Help track employee metrics understand how employees can be more productive. KPI tracking managers and employees
Update employee manual - tracking changes and ensuring each state compliance
Teach managers how to conduct a review.
Teach managers and assist in writing employees up
Develop managers meetings topics and plan event
Maintain employee files under lock and key.
Termination of employees in the Prime Time eco system
