Our typical internship periods are 10 to 12 weeks in duration, beginning in the May-June time frame, and are guided by department leaders. All internships with L.L.Bean are paid and most take place at our Flagship/Corporate campuses in Freeport, Maine. Responsibilities As a UX Design Intern, you'll be responsible for assisting in the creation of exceptional cross-platform digital experiences. Utilizing user-centered design principles, you will help develop interaction flows, design wireframes, build out prototypes to test on users, and facilitate communication of designs to partners and stakeholders. You will receive real-world experience designing for a company that leads the way in customer experience. Under the direction of the Digital Experience Manager you will: Work with a superstar UX team brimming with talented designers and engineers dedicated to crafting delightful experiences that people love. Ideate and brainstorm solutions to complex and meaningful problems. Research customer pain points and analyze current state, industry best practices and competitor experiences. Build out journey maps and interaction flows. Design and annotate wireframes and prototypes. Assist in usability studies. Partner with our UX Engineer to assess our Accessibility and UX Standards. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams that include content strategy, visual designers, copy writers, scientists, product managers and developers. Intern job tasks also include: Participate in efforts focused on current business needs Take on miscellaneous responsibilities, which are intended to provide experience or exposure to the assigned departmental processes at L.L.Bean Collaborate with team members, vendors, management, and cross-functionally with other departments depending on the scope of the assignment(s) Maintain communications with leaders of the internship Network with other interns at L.L.Bean to gain a broader understanding of the company Qualifications Currently pursuing a bachelors or masters Degree in Interaction Design, Industrial Design, User Experience, HCI or equivalent to a related technical field. Creative, curious, and self motivated. Some experience or course work in creating task flows, wireframes, prototypes, annotated mocks among other artifacts. Familiar with design software such as: Sketch, Axure, Photoshop or Illustrator. An understanding of interaction/user-centric design and strong visual design insight. Basic understanding of HTML, CSS and JS Flexibility and willingness to work where needed during the internship experience Strong interpersonal skills, oral and written communication skills, problem-solving skills and excellent attention to detail Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks in a dynamic work environment Ability to work independently and collaboratively. A portfolio with examples of student and/or professional work.
