POSITION SUMMARY:

The purpose of the Merchandising Training Program (MTP) role is to provide a 6 month rotational experience for entry level merchandising (or marketing) Team Members to prepare them for the Assistant Merchant, Assistant Planner or Marketing Specialist roles. MTP’s will rotate between Merchandising, Planning and Marketing through various Signet banners and will also experience a variety of training opportunities such as on-the-job experience, classroom training, manufacturing and in store experience, and GIA Accredited Jeweler certifications.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Apply skills and knowledge learned through the various rotations to perform the role of Assistant Merchant, Assistant Planner and Marketing Specialist including, but not limited to, identifying sales trends, participating in developing new product designs for testing assortments, and understanding product cost components in order to help develop a quality assortment that conveys value
• Learn the jewelry industry, especially as it relates to Signet Jewelers, and assist Merchandising, Planning and Marketing through various Signet banners in all aspects of their respective merchandise/marketing category
• Effectively develop a comprehensive analysis of their merchandise/marketing categories while contributing to the success of their specific merchandise/marketing categories
• Responsible for leading and developing an MTP Capstone project to be presented to Senior Leadership that identifies a gap in our business and solutions to overcome
• Work with an assigned MTP Mentor to deepen business and role knowledge while pursuing professional development through hands-on learning

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

• Education Required: Bachelor’s Degree preferred
• Required or Acceptable Job-Related Experience: Experience in retail or customer service
• Years of Job-Related Experience Required:  0
• Technical/Other Skills Required: Basic Excel, Retail Math, Negotiation, Verbal and Written Communication Skills
