    Job Description

    Are you a payroll professional with a passion for precision, compliance, and continuous improvement? We’re looking for a Payroll Manager to lead the charge in delivering accurate, timely, and compliant payroll across our diverse, multi-state workforce—including retail, corporate, manufacturing, and hospitality operations.

    In this role, you’ll oversee end-to-end payroll operations using UKG (Ultimate Kronos Group) software, supporting both union and non-union employees. You’ll also serve as a key partner to HR, Finance, and Legal teams—helping us stay on top of compliance requirements and drive process improvements that make payroll seamless and stress-free.

    What You’ll Do

    • Manage payroll processing for a large, multi-state workforce, ensuring all employees are paid accurately and on time.
    • Use UKG software to process payroll, generate reports, maintain records, and resolve any system-related issues.
    • Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local payroll laws—including tax regulations and wage and hour rules.
    • Administer payroll for both union and non-union employees, in alignment with collective bargaining agreements.
    • Lead, support, and develop payroll staff to maintain a high-performance team culture.
    • Respond to payroll inquiries from employees and partners with clarity, professionalism, and empathy.
    • Coordinate internal and external payroll audits, ensuring accurate documentation and procedures are in place.
    • Collaborate with HR, Finance, and Legal teams to ensure alignment between payroll, financial records, and business operations.
    • Manage general ledger postings, reconciliations, and payroll-related financial reporting.
    • Identify and implement process improvements and efficiencies using UKG and other tools.
    • Stay current on payroll regulations, compliance updates, and industry best practices.

    MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

    Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, or a related field, and five to seven years of related experience/training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

    REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

    • Extensive knowledge of payroll procedures, tax regulations, and compliance requirements.
    • Proficiency in UKG software (formerly UltiPro) is essential.
    • Experience with payroll reporting, analytics and reconciliations. Advanced experience in Excel is preferred.
    • Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality.
    • Strong problem-solving, leadership, communication (written and verbal) and team management skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally.
    • Proven organizational skills.
    • Ability to evaluate and optimize processes and procedures.
    • Self-motivated and possesses a strong work-ethic.
    • Ability to manage multiple projects in a collaborative work environment.
