Position Purpose: ** ** The Grooming Salon Academy Instructor is responsible for training Petco Partners in the art of Pet Styling, delivering all program offerings and maintaining operational standards within their academy and Districts. Be the primary resource and leader in partnership with field leaders (District Leader, Director of Pet Services and Pet Services Support Team) regarding Petcos Pet Styling Training Program. Consequently be responsible for maintaining pet parent relationships, while educating and engaging all salon & store partners. Must live the Petco brand and encompass a positive learning environment. ** ** Essential Job Function: The incumbent must be able to consistently perform all of the following duties and responsibilities with or without a reasonable accommodation. _ _ Training * Must promote Petcos Pet Stylist Training Program and ensure a safe training environment for GSAs, PSAs and pets. * Must be able to work and train multiple GSAs & PSAs at one time. * Promote, conduct and instruct all Pet Stylist Training curricula. * Encompass excellent listening skills and able to effectively coach in an encouraging and motivating way by delivering points efficiently and easily. * Maintain and update provided class-related materials with the GSA & PSA in a timely manner. _Reporting _ * Responsible to monitor, track and report out on post PSAs (pet stylists) productivity and retention. 30-60-90 touch base meetings with graduates. * Support the GSA & PSA on registering and preparing for all tests and assignments. * Maintain proper records and updates to field leaders, VPRO, Director Pet Services, DL & Pet Service support team to complete the GSA & PSA in a timely manner. * Interact professionally and effectively through verbal and written communication with all pet parents, store partners and Field leaders regarding GSAs & PSAs progress and pet services. Quality** Assurance: * Committed to enhancing communication and teamwork between GSAs, PSAs, other salon partners, leadership and pet parents. * Must follow all company & salon Policies & Procedures * Ability to influence without authority, when working with leadership store partners * Maintain and have available all Pet Stylist tools as defined in Grooming Operations Policy (such as clippers, blades, scissors) for PSAs to use when in your salon. * Be familiar with all existing and new products, services & marketing in order to be able to train GSAs, PSAs and engage with customers regarding new product and services features and benefits. Staff_ Development_** * Partner with Pet Services support team and District leaders on recruiting and hiring salon partners to include GSA, Pet stylist & GSLs. * Support other salon partners & leadership in continued educational and services questions. * Coach & support GSLs in managing the salon business and training/supporting new partners in their salons. * Responsible for new content development for GSA/PSA training & salon training in partnership with Pet Services * Other duties and special assignments as assigned Work Environment: The majority of job duties are conducted indoors in the grooming salon. Position requires bending, kneeling, lifting (up to 30 pounds, as necessary) and standing for long periods of time. A large amount of this partners time will be spent in direct contact with our customers and their dogs and the remaining time will be with the PSAs and other salon partners. Travel to other salons within the District/Market is required. Travel to events and educational training symposiums is required. Partner will be reimbursed for mileage and paid for travel time per Travel, Meeting, Event & Entertainment Policy I-09-02. Education and Experience: * Minimum 3 years experience as a Professional Pet Stylist and must be a current and in good standing Grooming Salon Mentor having taught a minimum 10 PSAs. Previous experience teaching Pet Stylist Training techniques in group or class settings preferred. * High school diploma or GED is generally preferred. * Experience in managing and leading teams * Organizational skills and ability to trouble shoot & handle crises * Ability to use a personal vehicle at times for transportation to meetings and occasionally working evenings and weekends; * Skills in the use of computers and related technology including but not limited to internet, email and databases; * Demonstrated ability to maintain professional and ethical competency by adhering to Petco Code of Ethics; and always behave and model the highest level of integrity * Demonstrated ability to analyze data, use critical thinking, innovation and creativity towards the achievement of business unit and organizational goals and objectives * Ability to create evaluation plans and determine outcome measurements that address program specific goals. * In addition to contact with the general public at the store and at store-related events, contact with other departments both in the field and at the National/Satellite Support Center involving the routine exchange of information may be a regular part of this job. **Primary Location: **United States-Illinois-CHICAGO-9670 S Western Ave (1990) **Work Locations: ** **Job: **Non-Management **Organization: **Petco Animal Supplies, Inc. **Schedule: **Full-time
