    Job Description

    Red Wing Shoe Company is excited to announce our 2024 Internship Program! The program is designed to offer you meaningful work that will prepare you for your career. You’ll get to see first-hand how our corporate teams develop strategies and practices that support our retail and manufacturing partners, and customers worldwide.

    This position will offer a hybrid work structure. You will need to live within a commutable distance to Red Wing, MN as you’ll be working on site 1-2 days per week. Standard work hours for this position are Monday-Thursday 8am-4:30pm, Friday 8am-1pm.

    Compensation is $20/hour.

    What to Expect as an IT - Software Development Intern:

    What you will do:

    • Learn how the SDLC process works and learn patterns and best practices used in the industry for solving everyday business problems
    • Through 4 phases of the internship, gain an understanding of the various support & development our Business Technology team is responsible for:
      • Retail and Supply Chain Software support
      • AppDev Software Development and documentation
      • eCommerce web support
      • eCommerce Software development and documentation

    What you will gain:

    • Learning about different development roles to capture a broad view of software development opportunities
    • Skills in trouble shooting end user application issues through shadowing developers
    • Understanding of the productivity tools for the job including Azure DevOps (ADO), Visual Studio, and Git
    • Work in multiple languages including C#, Javascript, and Markdown
    • Experience developing integration and front end software

    In addition to the projects you’ll be assigned within your department, the 2024 intern cohort will work together on solving a real world challenge we’re facing at Red Wing Shoe Company. Over the course of the summer, you’ll meet for a few hours each week with your cohort to gather insights, conduct research, and form a recommendation which will be presented to our leadership team at the conclusion of the program.

    We’re looking for students who meet the following requirements:

    • Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field
    • Enrolling as a Junior or Senior in the 2024-2025 academic year
    • Basic knowledge of a programming language
    • Curious mind and ability to develop critical thinking skills
