Transportation Analyst / Inbound Freight Planner Job Location US-AZ-Glendale Department Distribution Center Position Type Full-Time Requisition ID 43905 Overview The Transportation Analyst / Inbound Freight Planner is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day logistics operations of all product and materials shipping from raw material and supply vendors into the distribution centers. This includes management of all third party cross dock, carriers, and 3PL logistics providers. Further, this associate is responsible for rate negotiations for Truckload, LTL, and any and all other modes necessary; must understand DOT regulations. Performing network analysis to help understand network costs associated within the Sprouts Farmers Market supply chain. It is the Inbound Freight Supervisors responsibility to ensure that every shipment is planned, scheduled, and delivered in the most efficient and cost effective manner, while maintaining on-time and customer service standards as expected by both internal and external customers. Responsibilities (Essential Functions) Ensure that all inbound and outbound shipments are routed and scheduled with approved carriers. Ensure that all required routing, volume, and financial information is completely and accurately documented. Intricately working with procurement groups to assist in product flow, and vendor management. Ensure that all inbound loads are routed in the most efficient way possible while seeking and identifying cost-saving opportunities. Manage performance of third party carriers, including track and trace, problem resolution, and long-term strategic goals. Negotiate rates with third party carriers and other logistics providers. Ensure fleet drivers are operating in compliance with all DOT regulations. Lead and implement various projects and transportation initiatives as required. Conduct operations in accordance with OSHA, MSDS and other safety programs and regulations. Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities & Physical Requirements) Bachelors degree in business administration, preferably in Supply Chain. Will consider work experience that includes college course work in business, logistics, supply chain or related field. Minimum of two years of experience in supply chain, distribution centers and/or logistics. Knowledge of DOT rules and regulations. Knowledge of tractors, trailers, and other transportation equipment. Demonstrated leadership skills. Knowledge of geography Effective interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills. Ability to successfully manage concurrent projects, multiple priorities, and meet deadlines. Committed to providing excellent customer service to internal and external customers, preserve confidential information, be reliable, dependable and organized. Demonstrated ability to work in a fast pace environment and comply with strict time frames and deadlines. Familiarity with Mercury Gate TMS Expert Excel skills Physical Requirements This position will work in a distribution center. Typically this environment is subject to: Exposure to extreme temperature changes, moisture, noise, odors, and moving equipment. Ability to sit at a computer for long periods of time.
