Training Specialist-Marshalls Distribution Center
JOB SUMMARY
Conducts training and development programs, including leadership and management skill development, using adult learning theory and accelerated learning techniques. Follows up on programs and coaches/counsels participants and their management to assist with skill transfer to job. Participates in needs assessment, design, development and execution of training/development solutions. L/D Specialist will work closely with L/D Coordinator to develop, drive or co-lead building foundational programs such as leader and GW onboarding, coach trainer, clerical, problem solver trainer, ES certification, 5S programs and other programs.
MAJOR AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY
Supports delivery of core skill training to DC Management, with a focus on operational effectiveness, engineered standards and management. Delivers targeted training to DC Management as identified by the L&D mgr. in conjunction with the business leaders. Oversees training processes to support Associates at all levels in acquiring knowledge and skills necessary to perform at Company standards (general warehouse associates as well as supervisors and managers). Supports the DC in the creation and monitoring of individual development plans. Supports Company values and polices.
Follows up on programs and coaches/counsels participants and their management to transfer skills back to the job. Conducts one-on-one and small group meetings to refresh skills and techniques.
Designs, develops and edits training materials and documentation (i.e. job aids, visuals, leader's guides, workbooks, trainer outlines) to support all training programs. Participates in needs assessment, design, development and delivery of training/development solutions. Meets with management to determine department and individual needs and creates and executes work plans to meet established objectives.
Performs special projects as assigned or directed.

MINIMUM FORMAL EDUCATION
Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED TO PERFORM THIS JOB
1-2 years training experience including design and development of training programs
Coaching/counseling experience including positive and constructive feedback
